Hi,
I'm currently evaluating the product. I like most of what I see, but I do have one major issue - animation of text. You can't use the transitions on the text because they effect the entire screen, not just the text, blacking out the main video. The text animations only have a few types that allow entry and exits. Which mean that the text can pop-up, but only disappear at the end. This seems to be a major oversite in an otherwise stellar product. I use pinicle now, which is nowhere near as nice in most aspects, but in pinicle I can slide text on and curl off or any other combo I choose. Way better.
Am I missing something here, or is this just a limitation in the product?

Re: Evaluating - Text issues
Welcome to the forums,
There is what I call a serious bug in VS, that's been around since I can recall, with transitions period. I know VS X4 will allow you to add a transition to text, however I think it's not really suppose to. The text transitions are found on the Attribute tab under Animations. You can also add some filters to your text. The transitions you're referring to even affect any clips/images on overlay tracks. There are some that don't use the entire screen. I've complained about this to Corel, but so far no fix is insight.
I've been using other programs like Bluff Titler, and Cool 3D Production Studio to create my text. In those programs I can render them to 32bit AVI, or SWF and then insert them into VS. I think they provide more of a current, professional look anyway. Oh by the way Cool 3D PS, has long since been discontinued. It was one of Ulead's original programs. It's no longer available for purchase. Maybe one day Corel will bring something out like it.

Can the bluff titler put titles over a video clip? I did check out the web-page and it looks interesting.

Re: Evaluating - Text issues
Yes. You render it to an actual video clip. You then place that clip on an overlay track, effectively covering the clips below it.
