Install issue with PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Project Creator

Post by Lamar »

I purchased the Ultimate upgrade for Photo Pro X3. When attempting to run PaintShopProjectCreator.exe, I get a screen asking:
"Are you sure you want to completely remove Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 and all of its features?"

Is this the correct process for an upgrade to Ultimate? The file name implies "Project Creator" not Photo Pro X3.

Hi Lamar

Normally this happens to customers who already own a PSPPX3 and decide to buy the PSPPX3 Ultimate. If you have had PSPPX3 already installed and bought the Ultimate later, then remove PSPPX3 and install directly from the Ultimate DVD both PSPPX3 and Project Creator.

If you are a first time user of PSPPX3, then please contact the support in your country and we will help you.
I work for the Corel UK Support. I will not give technical support through this forum and my answer is only related to this thread.

I don't have the Ultimate DVD. I downloaded the recommended package from the web site based on my current ownership of PX3. I'll contact support as soon as I can. However, I'm generally at work when they are open. :(

Thanks for the response.

You are not alone.

I'm having basically the same problem. I've gone round and round on this, but have never gotten the package to install properly.

It would help if there were some instructions for installing the upgrade.

Update: I got a response from Corel support, and this is what it was:
Remove every PSP related applications. Then install the main program first then all other applications. You should install Project Creator the last.
I'm guessing that by "main program" they mean PSP itself, so here's what I did.

Here’s what I did:

1. I uninstalled everything I could.
2. I ran CDS2010Clean-Upver1_9.
3. I installed PSP X3 from my original DVD.
4. I installed the latest PSP X3 patch.
5. I installed the MBPL_Patch.
6. I installed PSPPX3_KPT_01.
7. I installed LooksPSPro.
8. I installed CorelPainterEssentials4TBYBEN.
9. I ran PaintShopProjectCreator. The installer asked me if I wanted to uninstall all of PSP X3. I said yes, and it did. That left me with nothing installed but Painter Essentials.

If I don't get a working response within the next few days, I'm going to ask for my money back.

Thanks for posting your experience. Good to know I'm not alone with the issue. I need to call the support line to discuss with them but their hours are limited to the same hours that I'm at work. Doesn't do much good to call if your not in front of the PC.

I've like the PSPX3 product so far, but this is the 2nd time I've had an installation issue. It will make me think twice before investing more money in the product.

I know this is very frustrating for both of you as you want the product you were promised to install and work; however, I think if you do get it to work you will wonder why you spent so much time and effort installing it. The program is pretty basic and does not have a lot of flexibility. It's okay as a freebie but not something I would pay for.

I'll second Kathy_9's statement. I don't have the box or Ultimate version, so can not uninstall it, if I could I would. It's not something I would base using or purchasing PSP over.

Agreed. In fact, when my previous computer died a few weeks ago, and I had to reinstall all of my applications onto my new computer, I did not reinstall Project Creator.

@ jerryschwartznb and lamar

If you want, then send a private message to me with you order numbers and I would download the versions that you have and test the behaviour.

Another update: I did get it installed, with help from support. My solution might not help everyone, since it seems to depend on having the original PSP X3 DVD.

Install PSP X3 from the DVD

Install Project Creator from the DVD (this is a trial version!)

Install the rest of the stuff from the "Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Ultimate Bonus Pack", but do not run the installer for Project Creator.

When it is time to register the trial version of Project Creator, use the key from your order.

Hi,
I am a newbie and I have similar problems except I have bought my Paintshop Photo Pro X3 Ultimate online. After since it has been a nightmare getting support.
It all started when I had a broken download due to internet interruption. Tried downloading again but came out with error messages.
First i tried getting Digital river which is the electronic reseller which sent me the product download order which I have problems downloading. They posted me to contact Corel sustomer support which always gave me a file creation case failure despite registering with them. The SEA numbers that they gave me does not exist and I am unable to get telephone support as well.
At the moment I can only get my trial version to work by keying the serial no. but I am unable to get the the extra products bundled as promised.

Sorry for posting as I am a newbie and I would think that it is very common for us to get proper support.

I have exhausted means to get answers already and I have problems also trying to get a refund on the product.

Please help.
Thanks
