Quick Template File

Post by nancyd »

If I have 200 pictures and 5 minutes of video is there a quick and easy way to produce a video quickly with transitions in between all pictures?

Are there templates that all pictures can be inserted into to produce something really quick so that from this starting point editing can begin?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nancy, :)

The old Movie Wizard worked great for these fast jobs, sadly it was done away with in VS X3. I almost dislike saying this, but for something quick, and along the lines of what you're wanting to do, I would say... (now don't tell anyone that I suggested this), start with the Easy Edit, VS 2010 Express. It is template based, and will apply the transitions between your photos. However at the very end, choose to Edit in VS X3. Easy Edit will close, VS X3 (Advance Edit) will open, with your project. Now you can do some fine tuning to it. It is here that I would suggest adding your video clips.

The Instant Project Wizard may also work, if you're just looking for an intro and/or ending. There's some real nice templates to at least get you started, and help with ideas.

You can go into Preferences and enable automatic transitions. You can select a specific transition or select random transitions. All the clips you drag to the timeline at once will have transitions between them.

Hi Nancy

I have to agree with Kingston here.
But whilst in Preferences also choose a default “image duration”, may be 10 seconds.
With a transition of say 2 seconds the images will display fully for 6 seconds, then the transition for 2 and so on.

What version of VS are you using?

Thanks for the reply and suggestions all - it all makes sense to me. :)

I'm looking to "steal" some good ideas for a mostly still shot photo video show with some live video. Pictures consist of one person from baby to adult - heading off to college.

Ron, you suggest some Begin/End video templates. Do you mean the "HM_General01_Start.wmv" files in the \Samples\Video directory?

I'm also looking for some inspiring video clips like the wildlife.wmv video that I think was supplied by Corel?

Thanks guys! All suggestions welcome.

Nancy

No, I'm referring to the templates found in the Instant Project Wizard. Look for the Magic wand on a filmstrip icon above the timeline. It's the one to the right of the musical note.

Where exactly is the Instant Project Wizard?

My tools menu has:
Video Studio Express 2010...
DV-to-DVD Wizard...
DVD Factory
Painting Creator

Thanks!

It's not listed in any of the menus... not very clever of them is it.. It's found by pressing the Wand on the filmstrip icon above the Timeline..

Abiel, the problem with Nancy being able to use any templates from photovideolife, is she's using VS X3. There's no way to install those templates to it. They're designed for VS X4.

Found it Ron - Thanks! ...and yes, not very clever of them. ...but it could always be me.

Abiel, I downloaded a file, clicked on Instant Project, but I can't find "Import a Project Template Button" to import the template. Do you know where I can find this?

Thanks!

Nancy,
I seen where you logged in, and tried to get my previous post in before you read or had a chance to post. Those templates will not work with VS X3, the whole website was conceived through VS X4.

OK, thanks Ron. I just wanted to take a look at those templates, but no big deal.

I'm looking for a video .wmv file suppled with the install of Pro X3 that I can no longer find. It was a video segement of a waterfall, white water rafting, mountain biking, mountains etc. It was in the samples directory, along with the Wildlife.wmv segment.

C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos\Wildlife.wmv

Can you check the above directory on your computer and let me know if you have a copy of this video segment?

Thanks,
Nancy

I don't find any type of sample file similar to that. I checked all versions of VS, which goes back to VS 8. Most of the sample video clips Corel & Ulead provided were of snow-skiing, para-sailing, ballooning, walking in a park.. but no rafting, mountains, ect. However I've learned that MS provides a sample video clip with Win7 that is called wildlife.wmv. I learned this from doing a google search, and having that video clip show up everywhere. It starts out with running horses, but I didn't see any white-water rafting.

Thanks again Ron, for checking this out for me. Yes, I do have the wildlife horses .wmv file and I've included segments of some of that in what I'm creating.

This other clip that I had (and lost) was some great video footage and I have no idea how it landed on my laptop. I'll work without it and continue to try to "inspire" in some of the footage I'm creating.

Thanks much!
