uninstall PSP X2 on Windows 7 64 bit

Post by okiebirdnerd »

I have been having problems with my PSP X2 releasing memory and had time today to reinstall. When I purchased my program it said it was compatible with windows 7, 64bit. Now I see on their web site that PSP X2 doesn’t support Windows 7. So if I uninstall and have problems reinstalling will I be SOL? I don’t remember all the issues I had installing the first time around but I’m guessing I need to do this when I have at least three hours in case I have problems.

What happens if I uninstall and can’t reinstall? Also can’t I just go into Control Panel and tell it to uninstall?

I am not sure if the original release of PSP X2 was ever listed as being supported on Windows 7. PSP X2 Ultimate has jumped on and off the Windows 7 list at least once each.

Although I don't have first hand experience with installing X2 on Windows 7 64-bit, others on this forum have gotten it to work reasonably well. I have installed PSP X2 Ultimate on Windows 7 32-bit with no significant problems (at least no new problems as compared with XP).

You should be able to do a simple uninstall/reinstall, particularly if you didn't have any problems installing it to begin with. You will need your product serial number when you reinstall. Be sure you back up everything in the My PSP Files folder, just in case something goes wrong. That way, you won't lose any custom gradients, brushes, etc. If you run into trouble uninstalling PSP, there is a knowledgebase article on the Corel website that has additional uninstall procedures. (The site is down for maintenance as I type this, so I can't get you a link.) If you do follow any of the more drastic uninstall procedures, keep in mind that the procedures, as I last saw them, guide you through removing all Corel products, not just one version of PSP. If you have more than just PXP X2, you probably don't want to do this.

Also, be sure you do your uninstall/reinstall from an account with Administrator privileges, and that you turn User Account Control off prior to beginning.

You can try following this steps.

How to manually remove PaintShop Pro X2 from system running under Vista 64-bit / Windows 7 64-bit

Go to Start >> Computer >> C:/ >> Program Files (x86) >> Corel >> PaintShop Pro Photo >> 12 then delete the folder 12.
Start >> Search panel >> type %appdata% (will open Roaming folder) >> Corel >> PaintShop Pro Photo >> 12
Start >> Search panel >> type Run >> in the Open window, type %allusersprofile% >> Corel >> PaintShop Pro Photo >> 12
Start >> Search panel >> type REGEDIT (will open the Registry Editor window)
Purge the following keys:
HKEY_Current_User / Software / Corel / PaintShop Pro / 12
HKEY_Local_Machine / Software / Wow6432Node / Corel / PaintShop Pro / 12
Close the Registry Editor windows and restart the computer

It seems to have installed okey but I have not edited an image. I wanted to install my camera profile for noise ninja but it won't work for some reason.

After reinstalling x2 I still have the same issues as before. It crashes if I do very much editing. :(
