Re-Installed GIF 5 and Can't Read AVI Files

Post by marklaker »

My PC required a reformat so I had to I re-install GIF Animator 5. Since the re-install the program will no longer read an .avi file. I'm not certain but the problem may be I'm running the trial version instead of a registered copy. I downloaded the trial version from CNET and tried to register it but it takes me to a ULEAD page that asks for a serial number. I only have a reference number I received when I bought it from SOFTWRAP LIMITED.

Hope this makes sense and someone can help me manipulate the program so it will read .avi files again.

Thanks so much!

There are over 800 different avi file types, you need to ensure you have the right codec installed for the one you are trying to use.
Use avicodec to find out what you need, then go to the codec manufacturer and install just their codec.

Sorry, not very savvy in this area. Nevertheless, I did some interenet research to educate myself a little and managed to resolve my issue after downloading the DivX codec.

Thanks!
