Burning DVDs in VS Pro X3

Post by Powelly_au »

Deare VS users,
I have been using Ulead VS 11+ for some time with great results. I recently upgraded to Corel VideoStudio Pro X3. The video capturing and editing works flawlessly however when I then want to burn the video to DVD by selecting the “share” tab and make disk it seems to start up DVD Factory which I find totally lame compared to the DVD burning associated with SV11. There seems to be no advanced functions accessible, I can’t seem to insert a photo into the back ground of the menue title, I can't create new decorations to creat new back grounds for my title, I can’t burn the project to an .iso file etc. etc. In addition if you save the project and then come back to it later it does not pick up you saved project, and it does not indicate where it has saved to project. Am I missing something here. At the moment I edit in SV ProX3 and burn in VS11. Any suggestions you may be able to provide would be most appreciated as I am very dissapointed by the new Pro x3 and inclined to just stick with SV11. Regards Mark

Like you, the vast majority of X3 users found the burning module totally useless. Corel listened and offered a free replacement - DVD MovieFactory 7se. It should be available to you via the Do More/Get More button.

If you still cannot download the free DVD Movie Factory 7 SE, it should be included with the SP1 and you can download it from http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 0460544373

There was no mention of SP1 via the Do More/Get More button so I got onto the Corel web site and finally located SP1 after a bit of searching as it is not on the update list any more. I downloaded both SP 1 (VSProX3_Patch2.exe ) and SP2 (VSProX3_Patch3.exe). I Installed both of these but it has had no effect as I still only have Corel 2010 available to me and I can find no evidence that DVD MovieFactory 7 SE is installed on my computer particularly as the install instructions indicate “Follow the instructions to review the Software License Agreement and complete the install.” There was no sign of any licence agreement. I re-installed SP1 several times but no change. I checked the version of my SV Pro X3 after installing SP1 and SP2 and it indicated version 13.6.2.21. I still have SV 11 loaded on my computer. Could this have any effect on loading up DVD MovieFactory 7 SE. Can you suggest anything else I could try. Would it be worth un-installing all SV software, both SV11 and ProX3, and reload ProX3 from scratch? Is there some other way I can download a copy of the DVD MovieFactory 7 SE? Regards Mark

DVD MovieFactory 7se is not integrated into X3. You have to create a video file in X3 and import that into DVD MF to burn.

The burn module in VS11 is practically identical to what you will get with DVD MovieFactory. At this point you might as well save yourself the headache and continue to edit in X3 and burn with v11. The workflow is exactly the same.

If DVD MovieFactory doesn't offer any additional enhanced functionality I will continue to edit in X3 and burn with v11 as it does the job fine.
Thanks again.
