convert step has some problems

Post by dumbdumber »

I have made a video with two music tracks on it as well as slide show/video clips.
I have then saved under different names with different audio tracks on it as I want the video to repeat play with about 30 different audio tracks.
I did a test of burning to DVD with 2 of the files and they were ok, now I've tried to burn 9 of the files I get a message saying "convert step has some problems". Any ideas ?

Hi

I am not sure just what you are trying to do?

Are you saying you have 30 separate VSP’s each having the same video with different audio.
Or from one VSP you have inserted a video30 times and used different audio for each clip?

When you say “saved under different names” did you save as a VSP or video file?

Burning the DVD…………
Are you using Share Create Video File to create a new video clip? Then burn the video file….
Or are you using Share Create Disc? To burn the VSP.

If the only alteration is the audio file, are you using the same type of audio for all?

What version of Video Studio are you using.?

It's separate VSPs with the same video but different audio on each one (total of 30 audio tracks altogether saved over about 8 VSPs)

They are all saved as VSPs

Burning DVD: I used Share Create Disc, DVD

It's the same type of audio on all.

I've tried it another few times, I now have one DVD that seemed to burn ok, but won't play at all and freezes my media players, and the second DVD plays all the audio ok but some of the photos are not showing up, just the text.

In situations like this, we usually recommend you use the alternative workflow of first making each VSP into a a DVD-compatible video file. In the editing module, choose Share > Create Video File > DVD. Do that for each VSP. Then, when you are finished, close the last project so that the timeline is empty. Then go to Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning module will open. Insert each of your new video files. Click on the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning module and make sure the box beside 'Do not convert compliant MPEG files' is ticked. Then burn.

You really don't lose any time this way. The way you have been doing it, the VSPs all have to be converted into DVD-compliant mpeg-2 anyway and this takes the same time, but it occurs as part of an already complex burning process. Separating out the conversion makes things simpler in the burning module. And into the bargain, you can also check each new mpeg-2 that it is working before you even start the burning process!

Ok, I've now done it the way you suggested. There must have been a problem with one of the projects as it kept freezing when I tried to make the video file, so I deleted that one.
I now have my first project on DVD !

Thank you !

Hi

Nice to hear you have managed to burn the DVD.

At least “creating the video file first” identified the problem VSP.

You may find that some users always create the video file first, I certainly do.
At one time you had to, but I am going back a few years to VS5
