I cannot get PaintShop Photo Pro X3 NL to start up anymore. Windows Task Manager shows PSP to have started up - as a service only. In the meanwhile, I do get this error message:
[Webbrowser:]
["Cannot find ...:/Users/Kanis/AppData/Roaming//Corel/Messages/540229901_907002/EN/MessageCache...
Check path of the internet address."]
(I'm running my PC in Dutch; so I translated it as correctly as possible).
This message appears from the very instant that I installed Corel WordPerfect X5 on my system, i.e. February 8, 2011.
Then I uninstalled WP X5 completely. However, the above message keeps appearing, whenever I try to start Corel PaintShop Photo Project Creator or PSP X3.
In order to keep on going, I installed PSP X3 on a virtual machine on this PC (O/S: Windows XP 32 bits SP3 under VMware Workstation 7.1.4 ( under host W7 Ultimate 64 NL)). It works fine from the beginning, but this is not meant to be. Therefore, on June 6, I tried a fresh reinstall on PSP X3 on the main operating system (W7 Ultimate 64 NL). The problem persisted, as before.
I then uninstalled ALL Corel applications from that system, went through the entire register and deleted all traces of Corel, PSP X3 and WP X5 applications. Expelled also all traces of PSI-Service related items (also from the register).
Then I made a fresh reinstall of PSP X3, and it worked. Eureka ???
Until this very morning.
Same old story started all over again. So obviously I have not found the root of the problem. It must have been masked for some time. What is the source of the error message? And how come it causes PSP X3 to start as a service only, and not continue. Note: note even the start-up screen of PSP X3 does show up.
Who can be of help, please?
Thanks,
Harm Kanis

@ Harm43
This topic is a very complicate one, because since version X3, all messages come through a particular message service and "Messages" folder.
These messages are in Searchfield-> type %allusersprofile% and for your profile type %appdata% -> open the Corel folder -> open the Messages folder
Your error says it cant find the message in your profile.
"Cannot find ...:/Users/Kanis/AppData/Roaming//Corel/Messages/540229901_907002/EN/MessageCache...
Navigate to this address and check if the folder 540229901_907002 is there and try to find the folder names behind 540229901_907002/EN/MessageCache.
Please contact your local support and maybe we can solve the problem.

I work for the Corel UK Support. I will not give technical support through this forum and my answer is only related to this thread.

Re: PSP X3 won´t start up and induces old WP error message.
I received support from Corel. As advised, I completely removed the PSP X3 program and all traces of it on the PC (including a heap of register items), and at first the program ran again as it should. For exactly 22 days, I could start it as it should. Then, one day it would not start; instead it showed the Web browser Error Message again. Complete with the double // (which is no mistake; it's there).
Surprisingly, two days later I could start the program again; for 6 days. Then it kept hanging on start up, showing the Web browser Error again.
Again I made a complete reinstall, as advised by Corel. The program started as it should; ONCE only. Then again, I got the Web browser Error Message. With the // in it. Different reference number though; (540229901_907002).
Assuming that all this might occur due to the way I installed it (on partition E: _where all programs are installed_); I again removed the program entirely, including all references in the register, and all traces elsewhere on the computer. All as advised by Corel's support. Then I reinstalled the program on my system disk C: (SSD that holds the W7-x64 Ultimate operating system).
I could start the PSP X3 program !!! ONCE ONLY. After that initial time, I never could start up PSP X3 again.
So: again I uninstalled the program, thoroughly, as advised. And reinstalled the program on my 'Programs Partition' E:\; as before. I could run it exactly ONE TIME; as before. After that, on each start-up the program hangs again, showing the Web browser Error Message again (with new reference number).
I gave up.
Then, I installed the program on a virtual machine with W7-x64 O/S on it (running under VMware Workstation 7.1.4. It ran; and it still does. I already restarted it four or five times. It simply works.
Conclusions:
None. There may be a contaminated .dll file of some sort. It is not my nature to let go; but this time it is. The overview of installed programs counts 200+ lines. Reinstalling would take me at least a week or two.
Nevertheless: if any clairvoyant has a clue, please respond.
Thanks,
Harm43
