Trying to Render at 60 frames per second, help?
I have Video Studio Pro X3. I've never had a problem since I got it, but recently I've been trying to render video at 60 frames per second. I've looked everywhere online for tutorials but still don't understand how to do it. I keep getting 29.97fps in the end. I need it for a project and I need it very soon. Is there any way you guys can point me in the right direction? I use MP4 video files at 60fps.

No 1080p60 in VSX3. Only 720p60. On VSX2 we recently got the "arix method" which works well. See the recent thread on 1080p

The "arix" method with X2 produces mpeg-2 video with 50/60 fps...
With VS X4, you can also produce .avi files, using a variety of codecs, which can produce 50/60 fps 1920 x 1080p videos. It really depends, though, on exactly what you are trying to produce. If it is straight AVCHD or HDV video, then Video Studio cannot produce what you are after...

Can VSPx3 not render ANY 60fps video at all, regardless of resolution? Cause I'll take anything.

Only if you use 'mpeg transport stream' as the output format. This will limit you to 1280x720p, but that will still give you good quality...

Sweet! That's exactly what I prefer! Is there a tutorial anywhere I can follow to help me?

Re: Trying to Render at 60 frames per second, help?
Unfortunately, this is probably the most undocumented feature of VS, and as far as I am aware, there is no tutorial for it. However, I have compiled the following:
If you are after true 1280 x 720p video (i.e. full progressive 50 fps (PAL) or 60 fps (NTSC)), you can make a template for it in both X3 and X4 as follows:
1. Go to Settings > Make Movie Template Manager and select "MPEG Transport Stream (.m2t) as the format, and give it a name. Then click OK.
2. In the new dialogue box which appears, go to the Compression tab. Change the 'Video Format' to 'H.264 Video'. That is your mpeg-4, of course. Assign a bitrate below 20000. I use 18000. Tick the AVCHD box.
3. Go to the General tab. In the 'Frame Rate' box, select 50 (or 60/59.94 if you are in an NTSC country).
4. You will notice that the 'Frame Size' then defaults to 1280 x 720. You cannot change that -- despite the fact that more and more camcorders are appearing which film true progessive video at 1920 x 1080p.
5. Click OK then Close, to get out of the dialogue boxes. Next time you go to Share > Create Video File, your new template should be there at the bottom of the drop down menu.
If you only want to do this for one burn, then simply select Share > Create Video File > Custom, then select 'MPEG Transport Stream (.m2t)', and proceed as outlined above.

Re: Trying to Render at 60 frames per second, help?
Well, your settings worked! But, still have one problem. Although I have a 60fps clip rendered at 60fps now, looks like every 2 frames are identical. Can I set it to read my clips so that it renders smoothly? I'm sorry for the frustrations.
Basically I open a 60fps clip. When I put it in the time line I get 30fps to work with, so I'm missing half the frames. Once I render them at 60fps, I still get 30fps because that's how the program seems to have read it. Is there a way to work 60fps into the program?

Sweet! I got it to work! I saw on another thread. Gah, my life is saved!
Re: Trying to Render at 60 frames per second, help?
i've noticed the same thing as well, i grabbed a 10 second clip that was recorded in 60 fps and followed your instructions to render it to a smooth 60 fps 1280x720 clip, but it comes out to only 30 fps, whereas when i play the original clip before using vs x4 on it, it plays the 60 fps to its full potential and smooth too. i use a kodak zi8 and have for about a year now been reading updates on this board to see if there is a codec or setting on vs x4 that can utilize the 60 fps to it's full potential after rendering. i hope there's a patch that will update vs x4 to use that, i'm tired of using Magix. their codec can render to 60 fps yes, but it's a confusing software and i love vs better because it's more user friendly and have been using it for years.Ian Talamantes wrote:Well, your settings worked!
