Recording narration

Post by mandm »

Hi,
does anyone know a shortcut to record narration. It seems very long winded to click the record button, select voice over, record and then do it all again every few seconds.
Thanks

You can always just record your narration in segments on your video recorder. Just hit record and start talking. Load the segments into the Library as audio clips (or video clips... it actually doesn't matter), then drag each clip to the audio timeline where you want it to be. You can adjust the location/timing of the clips very easliy.

That's probably no less time consuming than using the system you describe, but it works well for me when I'm on location and need a quick voice-over recording for a dream sequence, narration or whatever. It initially surprised the talent when I held the camera under their mouth and told them to do the voice-over, but they understood when they saw the finished product.
