VS X4 SP1 Error

Post by skyml »

Opened VS X4 today to try a project I had been working on in Adobe Premier CS5.5 and noticed an update to SP1. As I clicked to install the update I noticed VS X4 continued to load, expecting to see the installer to close or abort the start of VS... odd. VS loaded and I closed it before the installer ran. Ran the installer, opened VS x4 SP1 and built my project. Part way through the project I lost all preview of my clips though the program appeared to still be running. Previews didi not re-appear. So I shut down the program and reloaded it. The project reloaded fine and the preview worked as normal at the begining of the project but when I scrolled to the end there was no video preview... and after a fairly long period the preview started working.

I completed the project and rendered a video as H.264 Bluray 1920x1080P. When the project rendered and I played it back the color on the video is really way off... and I mean way off! And it is not consistant... much of the video is color correct but at random parts of the video... even within the same clip, the color seriously shifts - reds become green, blue becomes purple, etc.

All this after installing SP1!

HELP!!!!

Hello skyml,

Thank you for reporting and I've reported this for further investigation. If possible can you post the property of the video that you where editing.

Yes, the project contained video of various formats from H.264 in mt2s and mt2 to mp4. Some of the clips were stills from Canon DSLR's converted and rendered to time lapse in VS X4. Others were video shot in HD from a Sony Cx-150 video camera or a GoPro HD, both in either 1080 or 720 and at frame rates from 29.97 to 59.94.

I saved the project as a VS X3 version and re-rendered it in H-264 1080 in VS X3 and it rendered without error so the problem is in VS X4 and must be SP1 as VS X4 never gave me this error before with many of the same clips in the same formats.

Any suggestions?

I can confirm this matter. It happened indeed after having installed SP1. I created an AVCHD slideshow, containing many jpgs and two AVCHD-lite shots from my Panasonic G2 (m2ts). The first shot rendered OK, but the second one showed a purple sky and totally different colours than the original. All slides are fine. It happened during the rendering, AVCHD 1080p frame-based.
I hope that a solution will become available soon, because it is an unworkable situation.

I just rendered an AVCHD video yesterday into DVD MPG for a DVD Disc.... when I played back the video on my PC the video clips randomly flipped from 4:3 to 16x9 even though the clips were recorded in 16x9 HD and the project settings were 16x9. Deleted the file and re-rendered it (changing nothiing) and the second time it came out ok.

I've given up on Corel Tech Support.... since they bought out Ulead they have had the worst customer support and have the worst product care and repair in the industry. Nothing has ever come from my contacts with them and I am one of the oldes customers in these former Ulead products.

Mike,

I've noticed that same behavior with SD video. What I found was that the Smart Render was causing it. When I used Smart Render it would jump back and forth between 4:3 and 16:9. Without Smart Render, no switching occurred. At first I thought it was having a problem with the bitrate my camcorder used, which is 9600kbps. I would reduce the Bitrate and sometimes that even fixed it. However it finally produced the same switching with a lower bitrate, 8000kpbs. So I then turned off S.R. and no problems.

I'll also add that this was observed just viewing with my software media players. I use Media Player Classic the most. It would not have the switching as much, as it would have a severely pixelated video. WMP, however would show this constant switching. No S.R. and both played them fine. I never tested this by burning a disc with what I knew would probably be a faulty video.

Remember back when we were having problems with MPEG-2 and Smart Render? I think this was back around VS 9. Back then it was OOS, now I think there is a problem with aspect ratio.
