Lenovo edition

Post by Nes »

I have a Thinkpad T410s Win 7 Pro 64bit with preloaded Corel software (DVD Movie Factory 7 and Corel Burn now) as per specs from Lenovo. However I can't seem to update the DVD Movie Factory 7 from the site with patches. The patch says it can't find any version installed. I have the SE version but I am meant to have the SD Lenovo Edition. The installation seems corrupted because I can't find it on my program list in control panel but it appears on my start menu program list.

How would one uninstall or repair this installation so that I could get the full benefit of this product? I do not have an installation disc...

"Traditionally" the SE versions are limited "lite" versions that come with free with hardware. (I don't know what the SD version is... Standard Definition??? No HD or BluRay???)

Sometimes (most of the time?) patches & updates don't work on the SE version, but usually you do qualify for the upgrade discount should you decide to upgrade to the full version, or to the next version when it's released.

Is there something that's not working?

If you are thinking about upgrading to the full version, please download the free-trial first! It's different than the SE version. Don't just assume the full-version will work as you expect. (FYI - I don't think you can patch the trial either.)

That's very typical for the freeware & trialware that comes pre-installed on computers. There's usually a special recovery partition on your hard drive that contains a copy of Windows, and all of this software so you can restore you computer to "factory condition" in case of a disaster.

Hello Nes,

I think Doug already answered all your question but let me add something to his answer.

If the corel program that you are using came preinstalled to your laptop/computer these are what we call OEM and updates that you can download from our web site is not applicable to OEMs unless specified.

Since OEM are preinstalled , installers are usually included in the disc that was included with the computer. If you are looking for updates, the updates are usually released by the manufacturer, in your case LENOVO.

I've checked with Lenovo support site and found 2 updates.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... D=DS001521
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... D=DS004028

There could still be other updates but better contact them to be sure.
