My VS has started to crash 100% of time

I am using VideoStudio 12.0.98.0 PRO
(Windows Vista)
HP HDX 18T laptop
plenty of ram and HD space ...

Just in the last few days, VS has stopped completing the "burn DVD" task in the middle of the procedure ... gets about halfway through, then crashes ... saying "VS has stopped working".

I always get about halfway through the authoring process ... then boom ..

In the past this blip in the process would happen but ever so rarely, but now it is happening 100% of the time; I cannot burn any DVD.

I would so greatly appreciate any suggestions.

I'm up a creek w/o getting this DVD burned and ready for show.

try splitting the burning process up a bit - first use the "make video file option" to create a standard DVD compliant mpeg. - then use the burn module to 'Create DVD Folders' (not burning to disk) - then just copy those folders to a DVD using Windows or any other disk copy programme, - see at what stage your problem occurs

Okay, thanks for that ... Will that approach still permit DVD menu manipulation, I hope?

puzzled why this would be occurring suddenly ... do I need a patch?

Does a more recent upgrade promise to perform less error prone? ... be incentive to go ahead and move to the next release (VS 4 I think it is?)

What changed? New software? Hardware? Updates?

You could try a System Restore and see if that fixes it.

yes it doesn't change anything in the process - just splits it up a bit.
