Main Timeline vs Overlay
Is there an advantage to putting videos or photos on the main timeline as opposed to starting everything on an overlay track? On a previous post (Resizing overlay tracks) I had a lot of great help solving a resize problem with photos and began to wonder if all of the editing couldn't just take place on overlay tracks. This is a great board. The folks here really know their stuff.

Re: Main Timeline vs Overlay
This is what I usually do. If I have a more complex project that will use overlays, or if I know I may be moving and cutting things later, I will avoid using the main track and only use the overlay tracks. The reason being I find it easier to work with the overlay tracks, as the clips stay put, while with the main track the clips automatically fly to the left.
If I have a simple project I will use the main track.
