Shoulda, woulda, coulda will be Corel's epithet.

I shoot and store Nikon NEF. At times, I want to make adjustments that are beyond what Capture does, so I convert to a 16 bit per channel TIFF. I open in PaintShop and manipulate. A couple of times, PaintShop has failed on the most simplistic endeavors. At other times it worked flawlessly.

When I have a PC, with 8GB of physical memory, and a 50 GB page file, a 64 bit OS and an Application that says it is 64 bit that tells me that it is out of memory, when I can see that it's barely using 1GB of memory in total, that says that there is a very bad bug in the program. Now had the program said that it could not work properly with two masks and four layers, I would probably have accepted that. Telling me to close other programs (there were none running) to attempt to fix the out of memory problem was just infuriatingly stupid. At that point I knew there was a bug, the programmer had actually put that message in the code, as he had also encountered that bug and that's what he had thought it was, without actually figuring out what the bug was. He satisfied himself, and moved on and left the bug for the user to stumble upon. Too bad, it speaks of poor quality management, bad employee and employer relations, and a laissez-faire attitude towards the customer, that's me.

Not enough memory ... indeed!
