Here is short guide how to create 1080P 50 (or 59.9) Template Project with VSX2:
1. Install also WinDVD comes with X2 as bonus, it may help while editing.
Beside, WinDVD play smoothly 50P AVCHD (mts files) and mpeg2 50P.
2. Open VSX2 and uncheck Enable Smart Proxy (without smart Proxy)
File > preference > smart proxy > Uncheck Enable Smart Proxy, OK
3. Close VSX2, wait few seconds( to let process off) and open VSX2 again
4. File > New Project
5. File > Project Properties
Edit file format: MPEG files
and press Edit
6.Select Compression TAB and change from PAL-DVD to MPEG-2
change also Quality 90
change Video Data rate Variable 36000 (it can be up to 60000)
DON'T press OK yet
7.Select General TAB and do the following in this order:
Standard: 1920X1080
Frame rate: 50 frames second (or 59.94 for NTSC area)
Frame type: frame based
Now Press OK
Press OK again, and OK to confirm the message "Modifying your project...."
8. File > save as > Template_1080P_50 (or give other name)
9. Close VSX2, wait few seconds (to let process off) and open VSX2 again
10. Open the project Template_1080P_50 and save as your_new_project_name.
11. Insert your video files from Camera (1080P 50) to project
12. check if you get frames 0-49 in the time line (instead 0-24)
13. Edit your Video.
14. save project and press share > Create Video File > Same as project setting
give name and press save

When I want to do 50p work with my VSX2 I just click the "arix template" which I saved as a .VSP. No need to first startup VSX2 and then open. the template project. Thanks again arix!

Thanks. Have now done all that. But am I right in assuming that this template will produce files which will play properly in a Blu-Ray or other multimedia player, but are incapable of producing a Blu-Ray disc with true 50p?

VX4 SP1 includes the 1080p-option on AVCHD

Post by msp7fan »

I just render 1080i files, i was a bit astonished that in the presets for AVCHD are now 1080p and 720p available.

Nice - because my HDC TM900 has for best results this option, too.

Now i will give it try.

Yes, but it is only 1080 progressive/frame based at 25 fps, not 50 fps...

AVCHD and Blu-ray are not 1080p compatible. Multimediaplayers have no problems with 1080p playback.

Will this work in anyway in vpx3? I tried it, but the maximum bitrate only reaches 8264, and it doesn't give me an option for anything other than 29.97fps. I have an hdpvr that captures at 60fps, how can I put that at good use?

I don't think it can work with X3 since, like X4, Corel in their wisdom limited the compression options for mpeg video to DVD. X2 and previous versions gave other options, and the general 'mpeg-2' option (as opposed to the specific DVD one) is what is necessary to get the outcome described above.

I was (and still am) very happy with arix's solution because I like the 50p for its smoothness and better (motion) resolution with my multimedia player. I was less confortable with the idea that maybe the famous VSX2 blibs would show up again. In the mean time I did many tests with fast moving video images. Crosfades an titles,..no blibs!!!

Is VX4 SP1 that includes the 1080p-option on AVCHD on the Corel WEB site?

I looked at the features and it didn't call it out

I confess I did not look before updating with SP1. But the AVCHD option is there. However, note that it is 25p/23.97p and not 50p/60p.

In VideoStudio X4, you can share to a 1920x1080p 50fps file if the first video clip on your timeline has those specifications. You would go Share > Create Video File > Same as First Video Clip. The next step is very important. Click the Options button and clear the checkmark next to "Perform SmartRender." If you fail to clear the checkmark, Videostudio will crash during rendering.

If you don't have a video clip with those specifications, then you can download ones that I created.

For a 1080p50fps BDMV (m2ts) AVC/h.264; AC3: http://www.mediafire.com/?9qmksn6jy9pc66u
For a 1080p50fps MP4 - AVC/h.264; AAC 44,100: http://www.mediafire.com/?ose3eyzcmat1p1s

Each is about 2 seconds long, but you can trim them shorter.

You cannot use the shared files to create a SmartRendered Blu-ray disc.

With X3 I don't get 50p output content. Is this a X4 only workflow?
