I just had my gopro take 377 pictures over a few hours (30 seconds apart) and imported them all into the timeline. What I want to do is compress all these to a time frame somewhere around 1-1:30 or so just for a short clip of clouds moving across the sky. This is easy enough to do by selecting them all and bulk changing the duration to some fraction of a second. The problem is that it was quite breezy so the movement of the tree branches from one frame to another make it more "jerky" than I want when playing back.
Is there some way to smooth this out, I was thinking a real short fade transition between each frame, but that would take a month of sundays and I don't know if I can get the transition short enough. I tried importing with default transistion to cross-fade but the transition was way too long.
Any suggestions?
thanks!

Re: smooth transition for time lapse effect?
You can set the transitions to less than 1 sec, however it must be done manually. I've used transitions that were only 15 frames. Remember in video the time code is HH:MM:SS:FF (Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames). Setting the duration to less than 1 sec will take some time. However if you're creating a work of art, what's the rush?

Thanks, but that's WAY to much work for 30 seconds of video.. Not sure if a transition would even work actually, it was just a thought.Ron P. wrote:You can set the transitions to less than 1 sec, however it must be done manually. Just for fun I switched over to Vegas 10, it has a feature for importing a sequence of images and sticks them in the timeline, way easier for what I want to do..

Yup, a high-end program will have, I guess that's why they ask around $600 for it, and VS only $50-100..Just for fun I switched over to Vegas 10, it has a feature for importing a sequence of images and sticks them in the timeline, way easier for what I want to do..

Actually, for a similar or less price, Sony's consumer grade products are more than adequate competition for Corel's X line of products. I am used to Corel though, and like how it does *some things better, and I find it more intuitive or "user friendly". Same goes with Photo, I really like the Photo X3 for editing, but at work I use an older version of Adobe, I like the way it does some things better, but for some I prefer Corel X3.Ron P. wrote:Yup, a high-end program will have, I guess that's why they ask around $600 for it, and VS only $50-100..Just for fun I switched over to Vegas 10, it has a feature for importing a sequence of images and sticks them in the timeline, way easier for what I want to do..Corel could have had a very strong competitor, which was Ulead's Media Studio Pro, but they chose to dump it.
I passed on the upgrade to X4 though, my X3 experience has not been as good as the older versions, too many unexplained crashes and as I get more used to Vegas I am finding it a lot more powerful for the types of things I do.

Have you tried the Time lapse feature of VS X4? If you are not using VS X4, you can download the trial via http://www.corel.com/trials and here's the tutorial for the time lapse using VS X4.

Re: smooth transition for time lapse effect?
Thanks, I will have to have a look at it, it looks pretty good. And for $39 upgrade instead of $79 I may even take a chance on it, although I have to say that X3, while it has its nice points, has been more of a disappointment than previous versions.Abiel Corel NA wrote:Have you tried the Time lapse feature of VS X4?
