How to add Plug-ins to PSPPX3

Post by Foxman »

Hello,

I would like to add some Plugins to PSPPX3,
I read different help-topics on this subject, but mostly wrong :)
I read/understand i should add the Plug-ins path at
Preferences>File Location>Plug-ins - But there is no such option
or
Preferences>Workspace>Plug-ins - Same story :)

There was also no Plug-ins map or Workspace map in:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro\X3\PSPClassic\Languages\NL

I installed PSPPX3 today, and i updated it and downloaded patch 1-4

Could anyone explain me how/where to install plugins?

Thanks a lot :)

Are you saying that when you go to File Menu that you do not have an option toward the bottom for Preferences?

Kathy_9 asks a good question, does this option truly not exist for you under your File menu? Unless you've done some customizing that left you with no "preferences" menu option I think you're just not understanding where to go.

Here are some pictures, see if these help.

Under your file menu there should be a "preferenes" sub-menu with the "File Locations" option in there. You can see the options highlighted in blue in this image:
Image1.jpg
In the File locations dialog select "plug-ins" from the list on the left and you should see the current folder(s) that PSP looks in to find plugins. Here I added my own folder directly to my "My PSP Files" directory for plugins and added that to the list of folders to search.
Image2.jpg
Go ahead and put all all of your plugins into either of the folders in that list. Restart PSP and the plugins should show up under your "Effects" menu in the submenu for "plugins."

Preference>File Location is there, but there is no "Plug-ins" in the File type dialog...

I'm using the dutch language, so i could imagine they used a dutch name for it, but i also see nothing in the list that could be mend as a "dutch-plugin".

My translation would be "Invoegtoepassing". But "Plug-ins" could also just be used.
It's likely that i just don't recognise the translation they used for it, more than that option is left out in my PSPPX3 Ultimate Version :)

Thanks for the Reply

Oh, Dutch, in that case.

InsteekFilters.

Plugins are also referred to as filters. You can tell because it asks if about getting Adobe compatible filters and if you want to include the extension *.8B?. Adobe plugins have that very strange extension to differentiate them from normal plugins. I also double checked by using Google Translate (I don't read Dutch) and in the English that gives the translation of "Plugins."

Odd, I can use the plugin just fine in PSPX3. Well, I couldn't at first because I accidentally downloaded the 64-bit version. Since PSP is a 32-bit program I had to download the 32-bit version of the plugin and then it worked just fine.
