.mts File Format Mismatch

Post by Ballistix »

Hello

I have just download and installed Corel VideoStudio Pro X4. Mainly with the expectation I could import and work with MTS file formats.

However I've gone to import them and it comes back with a file format mismatch error. This doesn't make any sense to me, as I read up on it and thought the program could work with these files.

The files that I want to import are very big, eg/ 206mb and 418mb. Do I need to downsize these to work with them? If so, how do I do this?

Any help is extremely appreciated, I feel a little out of my depth.
Thank you.

Welcome to the forums, :)

VS X4 does support M2TS, and M2T, which are AVCHD video formats. What video camera did you use to produce your video clips? How are you trying to import them?
The files that I want to import are very big, eg/ 206mb and 418mb.
Those are not all that large. I don't work with HD video, but a lot of my SD video which are DV, are around 6 - 13 GB.
Do I need to downsize these to work with them?
Depends on your computer. Since you didn't complete that part of your Profile I don't know if you would need to convert them, downsize or use the Proxy Files. Please go to your User Control Panel, click on the Profile tab and complete the System Information.

Hi

How are you trying to insert a video file?

Some Options

1 / File—Insert Media File to Timeline-Insert Video—Browse the hard drive.

2 / Right click the timeline and select Insert Video---browse your hard drive.

3 / Browse your hard drive , then drag and drop to the timeline.

I regularly work with GB long .MTS files from my Panasonic cameras; only one type of .MTS file does not work: the ones from a hacked GH13 with 24 fps, and even these can be inserted and edited, they just don't render properly. Hang in there as you are doing something wrong. Fill in your profile and give details about the files you have, like where are they coming from.

Hello aljimenez,

You may want to post the properties of that "GH13 video" so that we can determine if it's a codec issue or something else.

Abiel, I posted this in the Thread titled 24fps about 2 weeks ago:
aljimenez wrote:I have a Panasonic GH1 that is hacked to produce HD video at 24fps. The files produced can be inserted into the timeline OK, but I am unable to render them with any of the tricks we have discussed here in this thread. An old version of Mediainfo incorrectly reports the files as twice that frame rate, just like VS does when displaying the Properties of the inserted clip. After upgrading Mediainfo to the latest, it reports the MTS file correctly as 24fps (23.976fps). I suspect there is something in that file that needs an update in VS so it reports and interprets the file correctly. BTW, 24fps files from a GH2 which produces 24fps files without any hack, work just fine in VS X4. Not sure if what Mediainfo did with their latest update is available to Corel, but wanted to pass this along so others don't get as frustrated as I was for a few hours as to why VS was not rendering my project correctly, the video sections with the 24fps files rendered very jerky... Hello, thank you for your replies.

The video was supplied to us, So I don't know what equipment or settings they used to produce it.

I am trying to import these by adding it to the library or to the timeline. But the same error appears: Unable to open file [filename & path]. File format mismatch. [16803:1:3]

I had used the Belarc Advisor to find out my computer specs, though I was still unsure what I was looking at, and have filled in what I think is correct. I had no idea where it told you the sound card & video card.

The other thing is, We don't really need these as full HD files, I am just putting together a Video for the web. Should I covert these files to something else for this use? and if so, to what and how?

Another interesting fact I have found, it will open 2 of my MTS files, one that is 984kb and the other 20MB. The rest of my files are 206MB +. What does this mean? A space error or memory error? Excuse me for lack of correct terms.

Thanks

Hello
Total newbie here in the video editing world.
Just purchased a Panasonic Lumix FZ200 camera and want to trim some of the terrible parts out of some videos I took
and I am having difficulty loading .MTS files.
When I attempt to load I get this error from VideoStudio X4 (Corel Video Studio Pro 14.0.2.20):
The file: D:\pathname\00001.MTS contains no video data
and the same error for other .MTS files
when I right click > Properties I get (paraphrased)
Length 00:00:06
Frame width 1920
Frame height 1080
Data rate 12132 kbps
Total bit rate 12388 kbps
Frame rate 29 frames/second
Audio
Bit rate 256kbps
Channels 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate 48 khz
File:
Item type AVCHD Video
Size 9.67 MB

Thank you for any hints & assistance you can render.
Dan
