I rec'd an email to buy Corel PSP X3 with other stuff

Post by Lorraine »

I was wondering why I would want to buy another Corel PSP X3 programme when I wouldn't be able to download it?

It seems kind of a foolish question, but if you read the message I posted today, anyone would think I was really stupid
to buy another CD with PSP X3 when I already have five versions and the only version I was able to install was VS 7
which I bought from JASC. I think I also bought Vs. 9 from JASC also.

I have PSP X, X1,X2 Ultimate also. I'm not very good with it, but I had fun using it making stationery and frames.
I made them from tutorials that were given to me from some very kind people. Some I found myself.

Click here and you can see my website I made away back in 1997 or '98. It was in Geocities for all these years until
a few months ago. It's not much, but I did it in HTML, which I downloaded from the internet. Have a laugh on me !

The link is broken, anyway... rather than follow what the email is saying, I would encourage you to just download the free trial and from there you can evaluate if its a buy for you or not. You can download the trial of PSP X3 via http://www.corel.com/trials

You can use the full working version for 30 days.

I get the impression Lorraine that you are thinking that because you have posted a complaint in these forums someone in Corel sales notes it and removes your name from a circulation list, not so I'm afraid , only a very few Corel people like Abiel read the posts here and do their best to help directly.

Even if you were allowed to post the most horrendous rant ever against Corel in these forums you could still get an e-mail from sales the next day offering you a bargain - your e-mail is on a list somewhere in the Corel sales system and even if you delete every Corel programme you have I suspect you will still be receiving sales e-mails for a long time to come.

Well, they will unless they click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email removing themselves from the list that they use to send all of the emails. Just saying.

But yes the second you set up an account and register a product they send you deal emails. I have PSPX3 and I still get those advertisements.

thanks all for your replies.
I received PSP X3 which I finally bought.
I wrote an email and lost it, it disappeared, things seem to
send on their own with Windows 7 and I don't know how many
are flying around in cyberspace..
thanks anyway, I looked around enough for tonight.

I answered all of you individually and I lost the email,
so it is flitting around in cyberspace, I suppose.
I thank you for your enlightening or sarcastic replies.

What I really want to know is, ( I bought PSP X3 which was supposed to have
$400. worth of other stuff in it, but the box says $200.)

I have all these CD's for PSP X3 which were included and I
would like to know whether to keep PSP PX2 Ult in my PC or should I
remove it. I don't want to lose anthing I made or photos in PSPX2
This is a Windows 7 PC and I am still struggling with it.

Can someone please tell me which order I should download the CD's?
I know it probably explains it in the book, but I have too many problems
trying to read what it says. Text isn't large enough.
I have downloaded PSP before on PC's, however not on Windows 7.
Thank you.

As you don't believe in answering people in this group,
I guess I will just leave it in the box and when I go
to Ottawa next week, I will drop it in on their order desk, if they have one,
and tell them what they can do with it.

I don't want a flipping box of junk I can't install correctly. I had enough problems
with PSP PX2 Ultimate and I am through trying without results.....

They can have their junk back, I haven't even tried to install it.
Ottawa isn't very far from my house at the lake. So mileage won't be a problem.
I will also give them back PSP PX2 Ultimate also to amuse themselves with.
What a company, for sure it is owned by the U.S.A. Ventures capital I believe.
So much for the Forums for Corel.......don't waste your time, buy something else.

Sorry you feel that way Lorraine...

1. If you sent an email, to whom did you send it? The staff (Moderators & Admin) do not accept emails or PMs concerning problems, they are to be posted on the forums. This is so others may also benefit from solutions.

2. The web board is staffed by users of Corel products, like yourself. We just have years of experience with them, and volunteer our time to help others when we can. Abiel and Simone happen to be Corel reps, and will occasionally participate in the web board.

3. Corel's marketing practices are not something that anyone on the forums have any control over. There's been times when we have suggested or complained and were told in no uncertain terms to keep our noses out. Complaints concerning marketing, such as the value of free included items must be made directly to Corel. I would guess that the retailer where you made your purchase may not accept the product back. I know in my neck of the woods, for software, if the package has been opened, it can not be returned. They adopt this policy due to the enormous amount of software piracy. It would be too easy for those that pirate software, to purchase a product, copy it, and then return it for a refund.

4. If you have read several of the posts here about PSP X3, you know that there are problems with it. The seasoned veteran users like Levi, Suz, Joelle, are very aware of this, and I know have complained heavily to Corel. Some problems however are not just the fault of the program, they are partly the fault of Win7. I don't have Win7, and do not experience the same issues with PSP X3 on my Vista and WinXP machines.

5. Every computer is different. This holds true if you had two identical brands. There is going to be some differences in them, and it becomes difficult to replicate certain issues, so that the cause of the problem can be pinned down. When I read about problems someone is having, I first try to replicate it, then find what may/may not be causing it, and then also provide a workaround. This is not always possible.

Again I'm sorry you feel the way you do about the forums, as I know we all try to provide the help when we can.

Thank you Ron for your reply.
The email I wrote flew away and that's why I was so annoyed. I don't know why they just go, didn't click send and I wasn't touching the PC. It was supposed to be for this group. I think just the Byline arrived if you look at the posts.

I know that you are all users of Corel and say you are volunteers.. that's nice of you to take all this chatter from me.

I have a visual problem. I don't like using a magnifier to read instructions, it's too hard on my eyes. I haven't read a book in 23-1/2 yrs. But now I can on my IPAD which was given to me for Mother's day by my daughter.
I don't see Corel instructions in it though.

By the way I did read a post in here, that there is a difference between PSP Photo Pro X3 and PSP X3.
I have the PSPhoto Pro X3 Ultimate which I bought and I won't bother going to Corel, I will perhaps give it to someone who doesn't have a Mac unless someone can tell me which one to install first.

Thanks. -Lorraine

Lorraine,

My understanding is the only difference between PSP X3 and PSP X3 Ultimate (which is the one being sold now) is the amount of "goodies" that come with it. Other than that they are both the very same program. Since I had PSP X3, when they released the Ultimate version, I saw no real motivation to shell out additional money for the same program, just to get some plug-in filters. If I want plug-ins I'll buy them from the source.

So I guess what I'm saying is if you want the plug-ins (KPT and Magic Bullets), oh and it comes with Painter Essentials 4 and Winzip, which I have both already, then I would install PSP X3 Ultimate, which is the same as PSP X3.. ;)

Ron or anyone knowledgeable:
Yes, I have those programmes in the box, I think.
On the box it says bonus pack over $200. in extra value.
Even tho' the email I rec'd said I would get $400. in extra value.

KPT collection plug ins, I don't know what or
where this is, I guess in the Plug ins.
Corel Painter essentials 4
********
One of the DVD's says Red Giant Magic Bullet
Photolooks 1.1

Then there is a PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Ultimate
which has a Serial Number for Painter Essentials 4

Also a Winzip 14 PRO

Please, just tell me which order I should install and also should I
leave PSP PX2 Ultimate in my PC.
thanks again

Technically Ron, the extra software was available to those of us who bought the original X3 at a discounted price. Which was actually more expensive at the time than the whole software package is right now. So, as much as I do like the KPT plugins, it was not worth it.

PSPX3 Ultimate also came with all of the fixes that were present in the first two patches. This only left Patch #3 and #4 left to be installed. But of course since the patches are free there was absolutely no incentive to buy PSPX3 ultimate over the original unless you wanted the software.

You can do whatever you want with PSPX2. Some have kept it because they just didn't like PSPX3.

The only thing you need to install is PSP X3 Ultimate. Once that's installed you're good to go as far as PSP is concerned. The rest is extra frills that are completely unnecessary.

But you need to install PSP before installing the plugins (KPT or PhotoLooks) Painter Essentials is nice if you want to get into digital painting. It's definately faster than PSP's Art Media options. But again, only if you want them.

If you want a list of what the KPT plugins are and their use there is an old topic with the list of the filters and what they do that you can read if you're interested.

Thanks LeviFiction
That's what I wanted to know.
I guess it really won't make much difference whether I use
PSPPX2 ultimate or PSP PX3 ult if the other things aren't
Important. But I'll give it a try.
Thanks and I hope it works. ;-)
