VideoStudio X4 - Corrupt Icon

Post by aerius »

Hello,

I find it a bit embarrassing to report back here, but unfortunately I've encountered another problem.

The icon for VS X4 has become corrupted and is now showing the default (?) icon in the taskbar and start menu. It may be worth to note that I can still see the original icon in my ObjectDock dock. I also use CCleaner and wonder if it may be a contributing factor to the icon becoming corrupted so I have excluded X4's program folder in its settings.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on Dell a XPS 420. If I need to give more info, please let me know...

Hi
I assume the program runs ok…………

You should be able to select any icon for your link.
I am using XP but the process should be similar

Right click the link/icon select Properties
From the Shortcut Tab choose change icon.
Navigate to the vstudio.exe should use the original or choose another.
It does not matter what you choose its just a representation, something you can recognise.

I would also suspect CCleaner

Yes, the is mostlikely caused by Ccleaner, anyway, with all my years of using CCleaner, I never did encounter similar problem even with none corel programs.

Here's another solution that you can take. If the problem is the icon of VS X4 that is displayed when you click on the START menu then you can just remove the program from the list by right-clicking it then select REMOVE FROM THIS LIST, then just re-open VS X4, assuming that the VS X4 icon is not damaged when you open the program when you click on START > ALL PROGRAMS > Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 > Corel VideoStudio Pro X4. It will then create a new icon on the START menu.
