Hello all! Newbe here. I was wondering how or why when I take 1 gig of video. .mpg's Drop it in Corel Vid Studio pro x3. And it takes up 1hr 35min's of time, then when I export it to dvd, it then tell me that I need a disk with 5.5gig of space. So how come my video goes from 1 gig raw, to 5.5 gig when I send it to dvd?
I want to add. I am also not adding text, audio, noting. Just keeping it plane.
Thankx!
Mr. Duer

Re: Video Size Problem
It depends on what format your original mpg has. If, as I suspect it is either standard definition or high definition mpeg-4, then it will be much more highly compressed than the mpeg-2 which is required, by international standard, for burning a video DVD... In other words, it will be converted to make it suitable for DVD, and that process will make the original file much bigger.
But in your case, it will then also be a matter of controlling the bitrate at which the DVD is burned. The default, which again I suspect you are using, will be 8000 kbps. But 1 hr 35 minutes of mpeg-2 burned at that bitrate will not fit on a single layer DVD. For that, you would need to reduce the bitrate to around 6000 kbps (Share > Create Video > Custom).
But it would be helpful if you could right click on your original file in either the timeline or the library window, and copy ALL its properties here, please. Then we will know precisely what we are dealing with.
