manual fade in fade out
i am using video studio since its 8 version. now testing the trial version of x4. but a very useful editing tool, i think, missing still now. that is video editing fade in fade out manually in the timeline. its possible to do this in audio. but is it possible in case of video. many other video editing soft. do this. but why corel still not updating in their package?

Re: manual fade in fade out
I has always been possible to insert a black colour swatch (from the colour library) into the beginning and end of a project, followed in the beginning -- and preceding the colour at the end -- by a cross-fade transition. At the end you could also use a fade-to-black transition.

Re: manual fade in fade out
With VS X4 you can just drag and drop a transition to beginning and end of a clip. There's no need now to use a color clip. I will say that if you're background color is set to something other than the default black, this will been seen in the transition.

Yes, I understand that is it possible for the fade-in/fade-out effect on both the video and audio.
To apply fade effects to your audio clips Please visit this: http://pnoy.me/1v then go to "To set key frames for your clips" on how to apply fade-in/fade-out effect on videos.

Re: manual fade in fade out
yes it is possible this way.
but sir i think it is not possible to control any point of movie clip by clicking and dragging down or up of the opacity leveler (one kind of fade in/out) which is possible in audio clipping.
Also I have just get a trial version of cyberlink power director. Sir if i just capture movie from my dv camera, edit very small and render it to dvd or mpeg2..... then which will be the better option in terms of time & export quality?

Re: manual fade in fade out
I think the "Fade to Black" transition, under "F/X" transitions, works just fine. You can control the length of the fade just by dragging the edge of the transition.

Using VS X4
If your camera is a Mini DV type then you should capture the tapes via Firwire (I-Link) choosing DV as the capture format.
This literally copies the video data from the camera to the pc, no recoding, what you get is DV-Avi at 13 Gb per hour.
This is the best method in capturing Mini DV.
After editing if we wished to burn a DVD then the project has to be converted.
When we choose DVD as the render option the video/project is converted to Mpeg 2.
The properties of the file are to the industries standards, the file is deemed to be compliant.
It is this type of file that is used to burn a DVD.
If we chose Share Create Video File-Custom-Mpeg – Options, we can select some Mpeg 2 properties but these are limited to the industries standards, again a compliant file will be created.
Standard DVD is Mpeg2………..
