VS 10 - Failed to build a preview graph

OK - spent a fair bit of time trawling and searching for an answer here but so far even though I've found references to this error, I can't identify a solution.

Situation - running VS10 and have been for a while now. However for some reason recently I've failed to manage to capture video from my Panasonic NV-GS11 mini-DV. The error is simply "Failed to build a preview graph".

I've checked and re-installed the VS10 SP1, as well as the Vista patch someone mentioned in one topic here I did find, but so far no change.
I'm just a bit leery of something that has worked fine in the past, but for some reason that's changed...

Any suggestions guys?

Looks like it took a reinstall.

That's one I did see, yes, though I like to try to fix errors if I can before the comparably drastic reinstall option...

It may be the way to go, though.
