cant enter text on jpg image

PSPRo X.I double click on a jpg image in my pics (XP home) and it shows in the workspace.I click on the "A" text tool and then the background title of the image changes to vector 1.A horizontal blue bar at the top shows with "text entry and a x in it.Right clicking on the image does not do anything, the tools on the left are greyed out.I am unable to enter any text on the image.Help please.

Hello Kenneth,

You want to reset the workspace. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.

To enter text on an image, click on the A or (hit T on the keyboard), for the Text tool. Position the cursor where you want the text to appear and click.
A dialog box 'Text Entry' opens.
Set your Materials Palette to a suitable colour so you can see the text on the image, write your text in the box, click Apply.

Thanks for the deatailed reply Joelle, what you described should happen but was not.I followed Abiel's advice(thanks) and now I am back in business until my next problem......................Ken

Tried to update to 10.03 (have 10.01), advised to have 10.02 first.Downloaded 10.02 and saved file in my docs, this must be wrong as I still have V 10.01 what am I doing wrong, got the feeling this file got to go some where else.

Did you run the patch? It is an executable after all?

Only had the option of saving the file in the 1st instance and did not realise (forgot)it had to be run.I double clicked the saved files10.02 then 10.03 then had the option to run them and they are now both now installed and I have 10.03.Thanks for the help
