Picasa activating PSPX3 re-configuration

Post by lossinc »

SUBJECT: Picasa activates reconfiguration of PSPX3

PROBLEM:
Newest Picasa 3.8.0 (Build 117.43)
Installed PSPX3 w/ latest updates (Patch 4)
Now, every time I start Picasa, a software reconfiguration (?) is started. After an initial window, it actually asks me to put in the PSPX3 disk, etc. but then terminates itself to start the whole thing over again from scratch. It sometimes throws in an error 1706, which again terminates itself and the routine begins again.

Uninstalled (via CD) and reinstalled PSPX3... no improvement.

Completely annoying, because it keeps popping up these windows that have to be canceled every 10 sec. Never stops.

Welcome to the forums, :)

I think you're having the same or similar problems as those that try to play MP4 files. It's a bug created by service pack 3. See this post..

Yep, the registry adjustment in this post seems to have fixed it for now:

Jeez! Why the heck should users need to do "registry tweaks"!

I am using PSPhoto Pro Xx v 13.2.1.20, Picasa v 3.8.0 (build 117.43,0)
Windows 7.

I have checked the registry entries mentioned in the previous postings and mine were all set as suggested.

#EVERY# time I select print in Picasa PSPX3 tries to configure itself. The installation fails because I don't have a CD. The default source at

c:\users\steve\appdata\local\temp\corel paintshop photo pro x3\1.5.1.001\cds\

is invlaid. Before I can do anything else it moves on and appears to complete the instalaltion. In reality it gets stuck in a never ending loop.

There really must be a fix by now. Is this a problem that can be fixed?
