I am trying to render to DV 4:3 with video studio 4 but the finish video is missing a piece.

Unfortunately, we simply do not have enough information to be able to make even a reasonable guess at a solution. You never filled in your computer details when you registered, and we always ask what your set-up is, so correcting that lack of information would be a good start.
Although we know you want to output in DV format, we have no idea what your *input* video format is, and what kind of camcorder or other device was used to film it, and what editing you might have done to it. It would also be useful if you could clarify if you are indeed using Video Studio 4 -- which is positively ancient -- or whether that is a typo for VS X4... which is the latest version.
