Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio tracks...
In the "Menu & Preview" section under the "edit" tab when I attempt change the audio track for the DVD menus it crashes. Same thing when I attempt to uncheck "motion menu."
I will try this 5 or 6 times before it finally takes.

Welcome to the forums,
First, you are using DVD MF7 Pro, and not the SE version that Corel replaced DVD Factory 2010 with?
Have you applied the service packs? If not you can download them from HERE.
Please Read this First before Posting, and provide us with a little more information, like properties of video files being used, audio files, ect, and we might be able to provide you with a sensible answer.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
No I haven't I will do so and report back,
Would these also fix the "Create Disc Image" and "Create DVD Folders"?
I have tried each of these and let them run 8.5 hours and 3.5 hours respectively without them ever finishing a 90 minute DVD. They stop reporting at 3% but never consume more than 50% cpu and memory never exceeds 50%.
I have successfully used the "Create to Disc" option?

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
Forgot to mention
Output is DVD format.
Source file is MPEG 720x480, Date rate is 2500kbps, 29.97fps, Audio is 224kbps at 48kHz.
No external devices are involved.
Project settings on the output page are defaults except where "create to disc" is unchecked and "create to dvd folders" OR "create disk image" has been checked. The target hard drive has plenty of room.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
I just installed the two service packs. The crash from the original post is still happening. The audio track I am attempting to add is an mp3 file.
I am attempting a burn to ISO right now.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
I decided to just try burning to a disc to gage how long it takes since I have done one successfully.
2.5 hours and the total progress still reads 3%.
Detail progress "converting video of the title... [001/001]" reads 0%.
CPU for DVDMF.exe *32 process is around 49% with memory at 173MB.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
Have you tried converting the audio file to .wav? VS and MF have difficulty with certain types of mp3 format, notably those using the LAME codec...

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
Here is what I have done so far today.
I uninstalled everything and reinstalled followed by the patched.
I started a new project from scratch with a new video.
I was able to toggle motion menu and remove or change menu audio tracks without crashing.
All sounds great....but
I go to the DVD creation screen and choose Create ISO. It stops at "prepare content for output" (or something like that) and stalls there at 35% and fails with "unspecified error."
Did the same thing with create dvd folders.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
But do try to convert your mp3 file to wav outside MF before you start (like with dbpoweramp or something), and use the wav instead of the mp3 in MF, as Ken suggests.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
For testing purposes, I removed the menu audio track and I removed the motion menu.
It jumped straight to the "prepare output content" when I attempt to burn an ISO and failed after 90 seconds."
I also did this again in compatibility mode XPSP3.
I will convert the MP3 to WAV after I get the burning problem fixed.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
After reading another topic, I found someone that "fixed" the unspecified error by adding motion menus and audio tracks to every menu.
So I reopened my project and did just that. I was then able to successfully "burn" dvd folders.
This is not a fix.
Why is this behaving this way?
I do not want motion menus nor audio tracks. I think it makes DVD navigation horrendous.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
We really don't know why it behaves this way. It is a problem, and it should not do this. DVD MF7 was not primarily developed to work on Win7 OS, and I think the patch was an attempt to get it compliant, but there are still problems as you are now aware of one such problem.
Do you have any other DVD authoring programs? I ask because you can always use VS X3 to edit with, producing your video files from the projects. Then open the DVD authoring application of your choice. I know I don't rely on one program to do it all. Some use Nero to author and burn discs.
Don't look for Corel to produce any further patches for VS X3, as the current version, just released a month or so ago, is VS X4. Corel reverted back to using the integrated burn module, like all versions prior to VS X3. There's other improvements such as better usage of system resources, in VS X4. Might keep an eye out for sales on VS X4. I'm not pushing purchase of this version, I just know what a mess VS X3 was..

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
I'm sorry for this JosephC, we already have a solution for the “Unspecified Error” when creating a disc using VideoStudio Pro X4 but not with DVD Movie Factory 7 Pro/SE, so I have escalated this issue to our developer for further investigation.
I'll update this post once I got a feed back from them.

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
I have Video Studio Pro X4. I will give it a shot over the next couple days because DVDMF is being unpredicatable.
I followed the same procedure with a different MPEG with identical specs and while it never game the unspecified error, the progress bar never moved beyond 3% and never said anything but converting title [001/001].

Re: Movie Factory 7 Crashes when I try to change audio track
I have had problems like those described by JosephC for some years... which is the reason I purchased VS4 - to hopefully get the fix for those problems. After buying VS4, I found that I am unable to import a project file from MF7 into VS4 - which has basically rendered VS4 useless to me... I wish the problems were fixed!
