I'm trying to match the project settings to an imported HD video clip (1920x1080 *.mts).
I've been using videoStudio for years but only in 720x480 SD. I just got a Panasonic HDC-SDT750PP HD camera and want to make sure the video output file makes the most out of both camera and X3 but in project settings it only allows 720x480.
Does the project setting have any affect on the final video file?
The properties of the video file says 1920x1080 24b H264 yet the source file extension is *.mts
My intention is to create a HD video file that I burn to a Hybrid DVD until I get a Blu-ray burner but I have no idea what format to save the file in if the X3 project setting only goes to 720x480.
Thanks

Hi
The project properties should not have any effect on the output file.
There are quite a few options open to you………
When you Share Create Video file:-
1 / Do NOT use Same as Project Settings, this would produce a standard definition video file.
2 / If the option Same as First Video Clip is available then your project will be rendered to your original videos properties. I think this may be your best option.
3 / for Blu-ray discs choose the Blu-ray option
4 / for a Hybrid disc choose Avchd 1920 x 1080 would be similar to your original video.
Also from Settings --- Make Movie Templates Manager will allow you to create your own template.
Using the ADD function should allow you to create a template of your video files properties.
Project Properties
The only downside of using standard definition is during editing when taking a screen shot (snapshot)
It would produce a smaller definition image than your video. However you could set the project properties to AVI and 1920 x 1080, this would produce a screenshot of the correct size 1920 x 1080
Hope this helps

Re: Matching Project settings to AVCHD video clip -X3
Just as a footnote, that is what it is supposed to be. AVCHD video (H.264) is mpeg-4 transport stream (ts). Straight out of the camera, your video would have the .mts extension, though some capture programs provided by camera manufacturers, and programs such as Video Studio, will import the video with the .m2ts extension. But to all intents and purposes, this is identical to .mts. Output in AVCHD format from VS will usually be with the .mpg extension, but again this is not a real problem either as it will have the same sort of properties as the .mts original......yet the source file extension is *.mts
