Videostudio Pro X4 - Losing Clip Audio???

Post by aerius »

Hi,

I've been using Videostudio Pro X4 for a few days now and I've seem to have run into the problem of losing the audio of clips after I have muli-trimmed them. It doesn't matter where I multi-trim them in the timeline, after I have confirmed the trim I lose the audio for the clip??? :(

Let me be clear: the audio for the clips work perfectly before any editing ie. trimming and they are placed in the main video track. The clip formats are mainly AVI, MP4 and DivX AVI and have varying lengths.

If I have left out any important info, please let me know; I'm hoping you knowledgeable fellows can help me!

Thanks in advance.

Does it happen with all of these formats? Or, are you mixing a bunch of different formats, and you don't know which one is causing the problem?

And, it might help to know what audio formats are contained in the problem files. (The more-compressed "more advanced" formats tend to be the most trouble-prone when it comes to editing/converting.)

What's your final output format? And, what are you doing with it? (making a DVD, a Blu-Ray, uploading to YouTube????)

You'll probably need to convert one or more of your files to a different format before editing. You may be able to do this in Video Studio, or you may need to use a 3rd-party program.

But we can't really say what format to convert to, 'till we know what your end product is... If you are working in standard definition, you can convert your files to DV/AVI, which is usually foolproof. (Convert all files to DV/AVI, import all of your DV/AVI files, edit, and render to the format of your choice.)

I first tried it with the AVI format and subsequently encountered sound loss. Tried the the others, same problem. Also, I'm only putting one clip in the timeline, so no, I'm not mixing clips.

MP3 audio 128 kbps

I haven't yet created a video file, the problem occurs in the editing stage, specifically whilst multi-trimming.

I'll give this a shot. However, I'm finding it strange that X2 has no problems while X4 is struggling... :?

MP3s have shown to sometimes cause problems in VS. Converting them to WAV files usually fixes it.

I'm not inserting a separate audio file into the voice/music track, the audio is with the clips themselves.

Anyhoo, I sent a support request to Corel who suggested I do a fresh install after I uninstalled the "faulty" version. I was also instructed to delete all relevant registry entries and files in the Appdata folder.

I reinstalled a fresh copy and unfortunately encountered the same problem: loss of clip sound as soon as I had inserted it in the video track. The problem might lie with the actual conversion of the clip because most of them are converted from FLVs (Video Studio doesn't recognize FLV files) using Aone FLV Converter. I suspect Aone is the culprit, but only for VS X4; the converted files work fine with VS X2.

I tried one more solution and that was to split the audio from working clips and this works! Though I feel I shouldn't have to split the audio in the first place.

Thanks for your time.

I was able to replicate your problem of losing the audio. I used Aone to convert a FLV to DivX/MP3 format. Installing FFDShow and enabling MP3 in Audio Decoder Configuration seems to fix the problem. During the installation of FFDShow, I cleared all the checkmarks for the video and audio codecs. Then after installation I went in to the Audio Decoder Configuration and enabled MP3.

Thanks Kingston,

Looks like your solution is working for me! :)

I couldn't help but notice audio loss seems to be a notable issue, going by some of the topics being posted about X4...

Please do not double post. I have already answered your other post, and have sought further information. But double posting here will only cause confusion if someone answers here and others answer the other post.

Hi,
I had the same issue. I had just converted a VHS tape to digital (VOB file),using a video to DVD recorder). I then converted the vob file using WinX free VOB to AVI converter to AVI format. That's where the problem stated. PRO x4 did not like the type of file.....kept losing audio if I edited clips. To solve this, going on a previous suggestion, using PRO X4, I saved the complete AVI file as a DVD file, which is MPG format, now I can edit the MPG file with no problems. Greetings from Seeleys Bay, Ontario.
I should have used "VOB2MPG" to convert the file directly to MPG like I've done in the past. But for some reason, I couldn't get that program to work. Anyhow, all's well now.

vob is already mpeg. Why convert to avi and then back to mpeg?

Also, you just resurrected a long dead thread
