I am trying to figure out how to change the thickness of the trace contour. I can click on the image, and use the trace contour but the line that it gives is very thin. Can you change the size just like you would if you used the pen and changed the width of the line?
Thanks, Dan

Re: edge effects
Nope. You can't change the line width. The effect is described as "Outline areas of high contrast with single pixel lines; the remaining pixels are turned to white."

Ok. Thank you. It was worth a try anyway.

Re: edge effects
There may be other ways to get a similar effect. Unfortunately the only one that I know of is more of pencil sketch effect and you may already be aware of it.
First duplicate the image so that you aren't working on the original. (Shift + D)
Second Convert the layer to greyscale. I wouldn't recommend using the Image->Grayscale command as it removes the color from the entire image. So what I want you to do is go to Effects->User Defined Effect.
This will bring up a really freaky looking dialog. The only thing I want you to do here is at the bottom of the dialog you can see the options to apply the change to "Color values" or "Grey values." Select "Grey values" and hit OK, that will convert the layer to greyscale.
Third, duplicate the layer and make it a negative image version. So go to Image=>Negative Image.
Fourth, change the blend mode of this layer to "Dodge" and the image should go almost entirely White.
Fifth, apply a blur effect. Gaussian blur is recommended as it lets you set the value of the blur. You'll notice as you increase the value the lines get thicker and more show up.

Re: edge effects
If you are trying to achieve a line art effect. Then you can try this alternative http://abielonline.blogspot.com/2009/10 ... photo.html, if that's not what you're looking for, then more information would be helpful.
