Hi,
Would anyone like to comment on how VS handles files recorded at 30fps when the settings and final product will be PAL. Some smaller / cheaper cameras only offer 30 fps. Does this make VS work harder?
Thanks, Peter

Re: 30 fps vs 25 for PAL
Hi Peter
I own a Panasonic TZ9 it produces Mov Photo-Jpeg 1280 x 720 x 30 fps.
Generally I use the video for the internet so the 30 fps is not an issue.
If I convert to standard Pal then the number of frames will be reduced to accommodate the 25fps in keeping the duration and speed the same.
I do however see a reduction in quality when converting from the HD version to standard Pal.
Video Studio has no problems in converting these video types, but that really does depend on what you are converting to. Smart Render would not have any affect as each frame needs rendering.
I have yet to progress into the HD world so I don’t use MTS types but would assume that quality would be similar to the original even though some frames have been removed. I ran a quick test render and indeed the quality if I was gonna be picky just maybe a little worse than the original, the render times however were longer.

Re: 30 fps vs 25 for PAL
Thanks Trevor,
A lot of my video is taken on a pocket stills camera [because it is always in my pocket], but the best it offers is 30fps. I wondered how much the frame rate options should influence my choice if I was to buy another one - but it seems not much. Do you think VS just drops roughly every 6th frame, although I realise it must be a bit more complicated as 30 fps is actually 29.7something?
Regards, Peter
