X4 Sound Problems

Post by jdowney »

Hi,

I have just loaded X4 (previously used VS 11.5 Plus); however, I can not seem to get the sound working properly inside the X4 program. My sound card is fine and when I play/select the individual files using windows explorer they all play fine. Is there a global mute setting that I have to turn off/on?

Also, I have a lot of audio, transitions(burger, etc) and animation files from VS 11.5+ that I would like to make available in X4. Does anyone know how you upload these file into X4? I am also trying to figuer out how to load the Bonus Audio content that came with X4 (animal, cartoon, etc)...

Thanks for your help.

You say you can't "get the sound working properly", but you don't say what the actual problem is. Is it distorted, play too fast or too slow, or does it not play at all? Also, what type of files are we talking about. Right click on a clip and post the properties here. Is it all types of files that don't play (wav, mp3, etc.) or just one particular type? We need some details.

Sorry for the confusion.

The X4 program plays the sound files (mp3, mpa, wav etc), you even see the 5.1 channels geen lines moving in the mixer. BUT you hear no sound. It almost seems like the sound has been muted...

I have tried all of the obvious things. Tried playing the sound files outside of the X4 program successfully (using winamp, VLC), tried to play the X4 provided audio files contained in X4 as a clip, but this did not work. The clip played, but there was no sound...
I have also loaded a mp3 file into a timeline, the file played but there was no sound to hear... Is there something that needs to be set in the preferences for the sound to play?

I hope this helps, I just can't seem to figure this one out. Thank you.

With an audio clip in the timeline, click on Audio View (the note/waveform icon). Do you see the waveform of the clip?

Hi Jeff,

I can't find the note/waveform icon. Also, there doesn't seem to be an audio view tab like in VS 11.5+

However, I do see the track in the timeline. I have the option of selecting the Sound Mixer from an Icon, and Auto Music as well; both icons bring up menus. The Sound Mixer brings up the Attribute and Surround Mixer tabbed menu. NOTE: if you select Attribute you can then see the clip change to an audio view indiciating the various sound wave motions including the fade in and fade out lines. The Surround Sound Mixer indicates the suround sound settings. The auto Music icon brings up a menu with many options and indicates the time duration of the clip (Scope, Filter, Music, Subfliter, Variation, etc), Play Selected Music, SmartSound Quicktracks.

This may not be significant or related, but I also have Videostudio 11.5 installled concurrently as well, and I am now having trouble trying to burn a disk in 11.5. The software keeps crashing.

Could this be codec issues? Thank you for all your help!!!!

Have you dropped the video into the overlay track?
It needs to be in the video track above.

Hi

The video portion on the video and overlay tracks work just fine. As a matter of fact you can even see the files on the audio track as well. Problem is, there is just no sound that you can hear! Everything else seems to be in order.

I am wondering if there any special codecs that need to be loaded or updated for X4 to function and play the sound so that you can hear it.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey can anyone help me?

I can't believe that I am the only one who has encountered X4 sound not working/hearing issues. Perhaps the problem is simply between the keyboard and the chair...

I recently installed X4 and I too have no sound. I have sound in my other software installed on this machine but nothing in Videostudio. Not when I play my own videos, sample videos, music, tutorials. This volume is turned up and I have tried different options under the settings tab.

Your own videos, what might they happen to be? Please read this sticky post... http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8959, and provide the requested information.
