Adobe Premier Elements - phew!!

Post by ruggy1 »

After consuming half my monthly download for the trial version, and then spending 3 hours trying it, I would say to any Ulead defectors - forget it! It swallowed up all my 512MB of RAM and was swapping from then on. If you believe their web hype comparisons between Ulead and Adobe Premier, you would assume that Premier does everything and Ulead does nothing at all. Don't believe it. It is old school, very complex displays, minicule preview window, "figure it out yourself" type of software. You feel like you have absolutely no control over your project - do it their way or else. I could find no way of adjusting bitrates and quality settings, it would not recognise many of my AVI and MPEG files, which every other application can recognise. In fact a waste of my evening, except that it does have far superior menu settings than Ulead. For anyone tempted, stay where you are !!

I have used the Ulead stuff for some time (Videostudio, MSP7, DVDMF2/3/4, all purchased full copies). A month ago I bought Adobe Premiere Elements, as it has some good reviews. After doing the tutorials and playing with it for a while. I gave it up. I could not get it to do almost anything of what I wanted. It played the videos at wrong speed. Counter-intuitive in many respects. :( I did however like the way it does effects such as cross-fades, which is pretty clunky in MediaStudio.
So I agree with Ruggy1: Stick with the Ulead stuff. It is not perfect, but gets the job done, and works in a logical manner. Ulead software is also cheaper for similar functionality.
I have uninstalled Adobe PE, and will not be using it.
Cheers,
Arnie.

for dvd creation, ive always found MF to be very good and a very good price as well.

they seem to also update it just when its feeling a little old....

so far, ive had the greatest success and results with MF and ive got the disc creator edition, so may dump nero now...

great for its DL support as well :)
