At a loss here. Have burned several projects with X4 and this is the first time I have come across the unspecified error during the burning process.
Empty time line
Create Disk
DVD
Add VS Project
Project Settings
Do not convert (check)
Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD compliant (check)
Auto repeat when disk playback ends (check)
Upper field First
No motion menu
No music track
Recording Format: DVD Video
Create to disk (check)
Normalize audio (have done it checked and unchecked and still have the error.
I have looked over the forums. One fellow said uninstalling X3 solved his problem. I did the same, but no joy.
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Unspecified error during burn
It has been reported that you MUST have motion menu and background music checked or else you get the message you reported. Try it and see what happens.

Re: Unspecified error during burn
Try changing the Motion Out effect to None. That seems to clear up the problem when there's no motion menu and the audio is deleted or too short.
MotionStudio 3D 1.0; Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 (w/o sp1) (Download), Corel PaintShop Pro 15.2.0.12 (Download)

Re: Unspecified error during burn
I do not like motion menus of background music and had the same error when I checked it off. So I also changed the Motion Out to none and it worked.
However I like the Motion Out options why doesn't it work as in previous versions. I came to look for a patch but there is no patch available. It was quite a struggle to get my first iso done with all the unspecified errors. Hope someone can help. Regards

Re: Unspecified error during burn
Hi Jeff,
I use X4 and never experienced the same error with X2. As far as I know motion menu plays a looping motion clip of the first few images when choosing Thumbnail menus which is too busy for my taste. I usually use text menus.
I made several tests now and it came to one thing: If you don't want motion menus and leave it unchecked then you have to set you menu out to none. Even if you choose a text menu and you uncheck motion menu.
To me this is definitly an error in X4 because I always used the setting for no motion, but a fade out menu with X2.
I'll be looking for a patch to correct this error soon.
Regards

Re: Unspecified error during burn
I know this is an old post, but I have been wrestling with this problem for a couple of weeks and I wanted to share my experience with others having the same problem. I am using VideoStudio Pro X4 and kept getting the unspecified error 5.0.0 at the end of the burning process. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I tried many of the suggestions that I found online including multiple combinations of settings within VideoStudio, but they didn't seem to make a difference. In the meantime I have used a lot of blank discs (including bluray).
Here is what I did to solve the problem for me:
Created restore point, deleted VideoStudio
Deleted two video conversion software programs and a couple of other unrecognized programs I had
Scanned for viruses and malware (none found)
Updated QuickTime to latest version
Updated the firmware for my DVD-Bluray burner (LG-BH14NS40)
Restarted computer
Re-installed Pro X4 into default directory (I had it in another location before)
Installed service pack 3 for X4 and now it works fine
I'm not sure which of these actually fixed the problem since I did them all at once.
