Re: x2 stops working
That suggests something has changed on your computer which conflicts with X2, possibly a Windows update. I suggest that as a first step you update DirectX. It must be updated manually, it is not part of the customary windows update process. There is sticky at the top of the forum, that contains a link to the most recent version. Download it, then create a folder on your system to extract the files into, because it will extract around 200 files, and I sure wouldn't want them running loose. Once extracted, locate inside the folder the DXSETUP.exe file and run it. Once it has finished installing you can delete the folder containing all the extracted files.

Ken,
I went to the link I found on the forum and downloaded DirectX SDK, but I am not sure how to extract the files and I cannot find the file dxsetup.exe. I am not really sure I downloaded the correct thing.

Re: x2 stops working
That happened to me a while back, and I think someone else was posting about a similar problem too. I never figured out what the problem was or how to fix it, but sometime later I switched over to a 2TB primary disc and of course reinstalled the operating system on that. Once I did that V12 and X3 started working again. I don't think it is a DirectX problem or anything to do with windows itself, but is more likely some other video related software that is doing something that conflicts with VS. Quicktime, DivX or something like that.
Have you recently installed or updated any video related software?

no I haven't installed any new software, I was just working on a video on X2 last week, when I went to get on yesterday it would not start up. I get to the orginial screen where you a have a choice of editor, move maker, etc. then when I click on one it continues to say "Corel Video Studio has stopped working". Its pretty frustrating.

Re: x2 stops working
Doesn't necessarily have to be new software. Could be an update that is conflicting. What about a System Restore to 2 weeks ago, when VS was working?

Re: x2 stops working
Hi, I have also had this problem today.
I am using a Flip Ultra HD and have been using both the VideoStudio Pro x2 and Flip happily for at least a year and a half and today I go to start a new video and it will not let me drop the video clips (mp4) into the library - states 'File Format Mismatch (16803:1:2)' but would let me drop previous mp4 video clips in to the library.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it wont let me open any mp4 video clips on my computer and it wont let me drop any mp4 video clips (recent or older ones) into the video library!
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem? Tried doing the DirectX install that didnt seem to fix the problem either.
Really strange it has just stopped all together!
Please help
