Has there been any resolution of this issue?
I've tried "emailing" Corel, BUT their email wants a "product" under WinDVD and it's only listing version 9 as an option. I can choose it but then their system won't act on the email because I don't have a registered version of WinDVD 9!
Honestly at this point I want my money back because I bought the full version for a specific reason.

Re: Updating WinDVD2010 on Win7 x64?
I too had problems updating Windvd 2010 pro on Windows 7 x64.
I am currently having a different problem but that's another story.
I'll tell you what I did and hope it helps:
The version of the program you download upon purchase will include a certain number of the update patches already installed. Mine included only update patch 1 since I purchased it a while ago.
Therefore when I downloaded patch 1 and tried to install it I got the message "cannot find applicable version of Windvd on your system" (or words to that effect).
That's the patch's way of telling you that you already have that patch installed.
Patch WinDVD_2010_Pro_Patch6_Nov.exe is the final one on the Corel website and it incorporates all patches that come before it with the exception of patch 1.
So if you have tried to install patch 1 and it gives you the error message go straight to patch 6 and download/install that one.
Assuming that works (it did for me) then there is a further patch available which is, to my knowledge, only available to install through the software itself.
Once I had installed patch 6 from the website the messages function within the software told me that WinDVD_2010_Pro_Patch7.5_Jan.exe was available.
I had problems installing this as it would try and install but then generated a script error, after which the update was still available to install but it wouldn't let me do it.
This is how I got round it:
The software downloads the exe file before it tries to install it. I searched for the above file and found it (although I can't remember which folder it was in.. somewhere in common files or program files no doubt).
I copied that to my desktop where I also had exe for patch 6.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Windvd, installed patch 6 and then patch 7 (Windvd needs to be closed for both patches to work) and I had no problems whatsoever.
In the About window (within the Corel guide section) it reads that I'm patched to version 10.0.5.819, which I believe is correct.
I hope that helps.

Tried installing the latest service pack, got the same message. Corel Support is telling me that there is a later build than mine, but one response I also got from them was that "perhaps you are on the latest build"

Re: Updating WinDVD2010 on Win7 x64?
Thanks for your help, fatbob07. Your fix worked for me.
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7. I bought the boxed version which arrived in the mail, direct from Corel earlier this week (late May 2011).
After installing from the CD,
Corel Guide --> Product Information and Preferences --> About Corel WinDVD 2010
said I had version 10.0.5.163 which I assume is 'service pack 1' though their download page doesn't flat out connect "service pack" numbers with "version" numbers.
Corel Guide --> Product Information and Preferences --> Check for updates
did not find any updates
so the only way to update the boxed CD product seems to be to download from
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5746622377
I too had tried the service pack 1 update, and got the same message you did that "implied SP1 was already installed." My CD says nothing about it being "service pack 1" on the label.
I downloaded and successfully installed "WinDVD Pro 2010 Service Pack 5" which is the "Patch6_Nov" file. It is version 10.0.5.703.
Then, as you said, under Corel Guide --> Messages there was a message about an update, and if you close WinDVD Pro 2010 while the update is downloading, then it installs "Patch7.5_Jan" version 10.0.5.819 successfully the first time without needing to uninstall and reinstall anything.
Too bad there was no insert instructions addendum included with my newly shipped boxed product explaining any of this!
Now if Corel uses the term "service pack" in the same way that Microsoft does, that implies that each service pack is cumulative and you only need to install the most recent one unless stated otherwise. So I think we should be OK with just updating the most recent one. Though other 'experts' here imply otherwise.

Re: Updating WinDVD2010 on Win7 x64?
The download link WinDVD Pro 2010 Service Pack 6 is here:
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5860905190
Windows XP, SP1 is cumulative to SP2 but SP3 requires SP2 to be installed.
Windows Vista SP2 is not cumulative and requires SP1 to install.
So it is a similar case.
If you go to Corel Guide then the tools button then About it will tell you your version.
Mine is at 10.0.5.298 so this update should work directly for me.
I have my firewall set to block WinDVD so I will manually update it.

I guess therefore they are cumulative with the exception to SP1. And someone who mentioned Microsoft Service Packs:This update includes key fixes for Corel® WinDVD® Pro 2010. This Service Pack can only be applied to software already updated to Service Pack 1: (10.0.5.163, 10.0.5.291, 10.0.5.298, 10.0.5.536, 10.0.5.544).

Windows Vista SP2 is not cumulative and requires SP1 to install.

Re: Updating WinDVD2010 on Win7 x64?
Service Pack 6 is the "Patch7.5_Jan" version 10.0.5.819 which was previously available only as an update downloaded from within the program.
I downloaded it to find that out. I already had version 10.0.5.819 installed, SP6 will re-install itself if you run it, rather than give a cryptic message implying that SP6 is already installed. I trust that installing it twice has no ill effects.

Re: Updating WinDVD2010 on Win7 x64?
I had a problem with audio but when I clicked on check for updates, it said there weren't any.
I went to this forum and saw others had similar problems (with no audio on some discs, green screen and audio on others)
Later I found this post so learned I was on my own for checking on updates.
Everything is working now! Yay.
