Smart Downloads

Post by jsh02_nova »

What would cause my smart download to start and indicate files were accessed normally but, at the end of download give an error message stating zero files were downloaded?

Here we go again...

THe smart download program no longer works. Internet changes, life goes on, and all that stuff.

Soooo, Ulead has placed the former smart downloads on their webpage. Specifically right here:

I have it bookmarked for just such an emergency ^_^

Funny, Smart Download seems to work OK for me last night (freshly installed PI10 ESD). Used it to download the User Manuals.

I don't know exactly what it is in Smart Download which is not working but the FTP servers of Ulead that is designated for the smart download has been working intermittently. Maybe it's the traffic with most PI users trying to download the additional components at the same time of the day. Good thing Ulead has alternate FTP servers where you can download the files manually. Moreover, you can back them up so you won't have to use Smart Download in the future if ever you reinstall it.

Initially, I would like to thank 2log that it helped me in the my Forum Topic... Reading the users' observations here could notice that the problem seems being of FTP from ULEAD and that the solution would be the manual downloading, however the available files in the site, it follows the list:

FREE Content goes Download

COMPONENT DESIGNER TEMPLATES (COMPONENT_E.EXE) 21.7 MB
Please notices: The below components plows only goes trial (TBYB - Try Before You Buy) versions of PhotoImpact that have been upgraded. Owners that have downloaded full versions of PhotoImpact of the not need these components, because they plows already included in the original software package.

Help Crib Manual and & User Guide (manual_help_e.exe) - 29.8 MB

Fonts (fonts_e.exe) - 4.0 MB

Stamp Objects (stamps_sample_e.exe) - 16.7 MB

Frames and Masks (frmmask_e.exe) - 13.6 MB

Textures, Background and Paper Textures (texture_paper_e.exe) - 18.0 MB

Material (material_e.exe) 27.6 MB

OBJECT LIBRARY 1 (LIBRARY1_E.EXE) 28.7 MB

OBJECT LIBRARY 2 (LIBRARY2_E.EXE) 15.5 MB

OBJECT LIBRARY 3 (LIBRARY3_E.EXE) 48.8 MB

Or this list is not complete or it is already included in the version 10. But nevertheless they are lacking several components.

Actually, the download components are for all online purchased or downloaded versions of PhotoImpact 10 (full, upgrade or tbyb). The download versions or otherwise known as ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) has its installers split up so you can prioritize which ones you need to download first.
