How to customize Old Film filter in VideoStudio Pro x4

Post by amyleew »

I have started my project with the Instant Project function (middle category) and I am trying to apply the Old Film filter effect to my project but I want most of the original colour to come through. Rather than have the whole thing sepia with scratches and dust, I would like it mostly colour but with scratches and dust etc.

I have clicked on the strip of film that I want to edit the filter on and clicked 'Customize Filter' in the options. From there I clicked 'Duotone' and edited the picture there to how much colour I would like to show through. The problem is, when I click 'Ok', the colour hasn't changed when I go back and replay it. It is still all sepia and not colour.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I have moved your query to the more appropriate forum of Video Studio, since your question relates to that program.

Does it gradually change, or is there no change at all? A gradual change would probably mean keyframe settings.

Most filters come with a beginning and ending keyframe already set. I suppose they do this as an example of how they work. You have to make sure the duotone values you set at the beginning keyframe are the same as those set for the ending keyframe.

You're right, Jeff. There is a start and end keyframe and I just worked out how to see it. I don't think there was any change but I worked out how to delete other filters that were on at the same time and one of those was blocking the colour. Thanks so much for your help. :D
