Hi...
Running Win7 Ultimate, 32bit, 3gb RAM, Athlon 64 Dual Core 6000+ (3ghz). Using MovieFactory 7 Pro... clicked Create Video Disk, Add Video File, selected a 5.34g AVI (MF7 is set to DVD 4.7g). Tried to Burn DVD... MF7 said "... total size larger...", I hit "Yes" to continue, MF7 said "... take time to render...", I said "OK" to go on and Windows pops up a "... Movie Factory Stopped Working...".
I know I've "resized to fit" before! Why does MovieFactory simply crap out... rather than give some graceful error response? I have nothing to go on... so does anyone have any ideas??
Thanks in advance,
Steve
MovieFactory 7 Pro crashes
Re: MovieFactory 7 Pro crashes
There could be something about your AVI file that Movie Factory "doesn't like", or maybe you are running out of space. I'm not sure what you are answering "OK" to...
"AVI" is a "wrapper" or "container" format and it can contain any kind of audio/video compression-format. Unless the AVI file is DVD-compatible MPEG-2 compressed, there is no relationship betwen the AVI file size, and the space required on the disc.
What's the playing time and what are your project settings? (i.e. You can fit 90 minutes of 6000kbps video + dolby audio onto a single-layer DVD... Longer programs require a lower bitrate/quality setting.)
If Movie Factory cannot handle your particular AVI file, you can try converting it to MPEG-2 with SUPER (FREE!!!) before brining it into Movie Factory. To make sure you are making a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 file, you can use your porject setting from Movie Factory.
That's not "graceful?"
At least it gave you a message instead of just freezing-up or something...
Or sometimes, we get an error-code that nobody knows what it means...
