Lockup during install

Lockup during install
I'm having an issue with the trial version of X3. It extracts the files then I get a black PSP window on the bottom says Cancel or Next but the next is greyed out. I have left this run for several hours, but nothing happens. If I click cancel it does stop right away so I don't know if it's locked or what. I installed it once a short time ago and never got to use it before there was a power outtage and I had a system crash. After getting everything back up and running I tried reinstalling X3, but now this is what I'm getting. HELP????

Re: Lockup during install
Hi cruzer42
Please create a new user account with full administrative access and after try to install PSPPX3.
1. Start -> Control Panel -> Switch view by Category to Small Icons -> User Accounts
2. Create a new account with administrative rights
When you have PSPP installed, you can go back to the old user account and if it works fine, then delete the new user account.
How to get full administrative access?
Before you remove and install a program, patch or update, you have to log in as administrator. The only way to get full administrator access on Vista/Windows 7 is by turning off the User Account Control and right-click on a program, patch or update and go to "Run as Administrator". Otherwise, you will have problems working properly on your system.
Vista: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... -on-or-off
Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... -on-or-off
Also check your graphic card driver and update if it's an older one (Sometimes Windows 7 user have a Vista driver).

Re: Lockup during install
Thank you. I am the Administrator and that's the only account on here, but, I will give that a try. I do appreciate the help very much.

Re: Lockup during install
That you are the only user on your system doesn't mean you have administrative access. Vista/Win7 don't work as XP has done it. Please read more about the new UAC on the Microsoft page.I am the Administrator and that's the only account on here

Re: Lockup during install
Well, I've done exactly as advised and I'm still getting the same thing. It just will not install. Now what?

Re: Lockup during install
Can you take a screenshot from the installation window that we can see how it looks like?

Re: Lockup during install
I was finally able to capture the window. This stays for hours and doesn't appear to be doing anything.-

Re: Lockup during install
Thank you for the screenshot.
Okay, this is a known issue for a few machines. Normally, the fastest solution is this one, I wrote before (it has to be a completely new account with full administrative access).
Somebody here found a second solution with a particular key in the registry coming from another program. I will post it tomorrow when I will be at work. I can't remember the path.

cruzer42, wonderful news, enjoy the trial
Log in with your old account and if PSPP works fine, then you can delete that new account.
