Can you right click on the file in your timeline and let us have a copy of the properties of the mp4 file. There are lots of varieties of mp4 :(

Hello Gaja,

This can be a codec issue, I would assume that you are using VS X3 or VS X4, since your on Windows 7. Please try updating the following codecs that are commonly used by VS on Windows 7.

RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.43.0.html, then download the file http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.1.zip
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx
QuickTime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Direct X: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx

I'm having a similar problem with a free trial installation of X4 under Windows XP. I will buy the software if I can get it to work, as I have gotten good results with MediaStudio Pro 7 (other than the fact that it is too old to work with MP4 files).

In my case, the majority of my MP4 files crash X4 as soon as I try to import them. Is the same list of Codex updates applicable to Windows XP?

I can also boot 64 bit Vista. Would it help to install the software under that OS?

When it crashes, the X4 software creates dump files and asks me to send them to tech support for analysis. Let me know if you need me to send any of them.
