FILE GOT HUGE.

Post by BUG-EYED »

HI AGAIN
I have a question, what else is new, I get H.264 mov files into VS13 easily, but due to the audio problem when playing with "project" from the time line, I convert to AVI.
What is weird is, the original file is say, 330 mg, when "converted" to AVI, which I thought was just a BIT BUCKET, it becomes around 16G.
I can now use "project" to play the time line, but the file got huge.
Any ideas.

Thanks again, BUG-EYED.

Depending on how long your video runs for, 16 GB of AVI could be either raw, uncompressed AVI (which is huge: 1 hour takes about 65 GB) or DV/AVI which takes 13 GB for 1 hour.

So which AVI did you think you were converting to? There are over 800 different types of video which use the .avi extension. In other words, apart from totally uncompressed .avi, it is just a wrapper format.

Can you also please right click on one of the original files either in the X3 timeline or in the library window, and copy ALL its properties -- or an image of the Properties box -- here. Then we will have a better idea what we are dealing with and what to suggest. As it is, while you say it is h.264, that could be standard def mpeg-4 or it could be high def AVCHD.
