VS4/MF 7 Pro Combo Deal

Post by wstagner »

Received an email today announcing $20 discount on VS4 w/MF 7 Pro throw in for free.

Sounds to me like this is Corel's answer to fixing the known issues with the VS4 burning module.

If you couple the $59.99 with the BONUSBUCKS20 $20 discount code and free shipping....this means $40 for the upgrade!

Sounds like a very worthwhile deal, but this kina suggests to me that VS5 is closer than we mite think?

Any thoughts?

Anwy, the deal is valid until 5/15.

I dunno, Jeff. X3 didn't get this cheap until late in "the game."

Seems there's a lot of intrest in 3D video, which makes no cents 2 me and I'm quite sure that will be one of the big X5 things.
For me, I'll wait for holografic TV like they had on the planet Krypton and skip those goofy glasses.

I seriously doubt they're anywhere close to releasing another version. VS X4 was just released. I think this is just part of their marketing strategy to bump up sales. People will jump on sales, discounts, specials, bargins, quickly because it insinuates the price is for a limited time, and will be going up. It gets attention to their products. Got your attention didn't it? ;)

Yeah, it did GET my attention, especially the DVD production "fix" of free MF Pro 7.
Now, the question is will it motivate me to to buy.
I'll wait until the last minute probly. I think low sales are the norm currently. I'm getting the same kind of email from Novastor to get me to upgrade to novaback 12 from 11. If sales were better, there'd b no need for sucha low price.

Where exactly did this email come from? The only things I got from Corel in the past couple of weeks relating to X4 had a minor discount applied, and no mention of MF 7... not that I need either as I have both. But I am intrigued...

Just go here: http://store1.corel.com/corel/product/i ... rod3910160

You'll see the upgrade is now $49.95. Add it to your cart and MF7 Pro is automatically added.

Then apply any discount coupon you might have such as BONUSBUCKS20 and voila!
$29.95.

That is because Corel uses a different kind of math compared to the rest of us!!

If you go to the order page and do the checkout, you will see the regular upgrade price of $79.99 crossed out and replaced with the discount price of $49.99. Then, you also get the MF7 pro for an additional $0. According to the checkout $49.99 + $0 gives a subtotal of $59.98!!

$59.98 less your $20 gives you $39.98, that accounts for the difference you mentioned probably.

Perhaps this "special math" they use is why there are so many bugs in the program

Its not the first time that I have seen a discrepancy between the price they advertise and what their checkout program pops up. It appears to have a bug, either that or the person doing the website updates is sloppy.

Edit: Oh...I see...there is a scroll button on the checkout list, and if you click it, it scrolls down to "download insurance" which you otherwise can't see. Sneaky!! (aside from the fact that you can download it for free anyway if you have your key code)

Why is that sneaky? They have no control over your screen resolution or whether your view is zoomed in or not. :?

I ordered the upgrade on 4/9 and paid $79. Anyone had success getting a partial refund or at least a free copy of DVDMF?

I'd post something on corelyourway.com and ask Jennifer. She'll get back to you after she checks with "the refund gurus at Corel".

Seriously, it's worth making a post there.

It has nothing to do with screen resolution, it's an active control within the screen. That is why you don't see it unless you click the control to make the contained window scroll up. If you don't realize that, and don't notice the price discrepancy and wonder whats going on, you will end up paying $9.99 for something you don't really need (and probably don't want). The download insurance is pretty useless anyway since you can download the program for free as many times as you want whenever you want - I don't know what exactly it is they giving you for your $9.99 but it certainly isn't access to the program.

I agree it is rather sneaky. But before you get to the checkout, you have the chance to edit the products. And on that page, the insurance package is clearly marked, in clear view, and with a Remove button. So you can always get rid of the insurance (which I also agree is useless anyway if you are careful with your original download...)
