I just had the same problem with the project I'm currently working on. I am using MF 3 Disc Creator.

The file size of each clip shows up in the bottom bar as roughly double it's actual size. If I right click on the clip to show properties, the file size is correct. The clip shows the correct time duration in the bottom bar - just the file size is wrong. It didn't let me burn my project to DVD when I tried.

MF3 & MF4 calculates DVD compliant file sizes and those compliant
file sizes are based on MF's "PROJECT SETTINGS"

For example:
A 2hr divx file on my machine is 1.3gig's.
That file being in Dvd compliant form would be about 7 gigs.
That shows you the amount of compression the new Mpeg4 movies
are using.

I don't know what type of file you imported but this holds true for any
file and is based more on the LENGTH of the video and the
"PROJECT PROPERTIES".

While the video is on the timeline click on the GEAR icon and
"Change Mpeg Settings -> Customize"
Change the audio to Dolby or Mpeg and LOWER the VIDEO_BIT_RATE
to approx 5000kbs.
See what MF displays now.

Hope this helps,

If your source videos are already compliant for the type of disc you are creating, then checking the "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" can give you different results in the size estimates.

This subject was discussed in an earlier thread.
I had this exact same problem. The most interesting thing is, DVDMF2 works perfectly, always reports the correct size. DVDMF3 and 4 are faulty. But DVDMF2 does not support new burners or DL or the new menu capabilities of DVDMF4.
My workaround is to never convert files in DVDMF4, always pre-create the MPG in the final format (I use DVD-PAL, 5000 kb/s most of the time), before importing into DVDMF4.
Cheers,
Arnie.
