new to this forum, glad to read I'm not the only one with issues re: PSP hogging the memory
I've tried many tricks to release memory - but when the whole PC grinds to a halt - ctrl-alt-del is inevitable
read most of the messages on this topic - does anyone else find that the matter is accumulative - ie a few large TIFFs or layered images are no problem, so you finish the editing and open the same amount of material and then the system overloads as though the memory space is not released until PSP is shut down - then you can access all the memory again

I've downloaded and use this program to keep memory in check. http://www.majorgeeks.com/CleanMem_d5993.html
Basically it runs in the background and asks your operating system to ask the programs for the memory back from the page file. I didn't have any "out of memory" issues before I ran this program though and have only run into it rarely trying to tax my system enough to get an out of memory error. It did however increase my tv card's performance back to when it was first installed.

I highly recommend anything at MajorGeeks.com but use at your own risk.
Regards, Dan

The last time I used PSPx3 was about a month or so ago and it was using too much of my memory so I uninstalled it....I do not intend to reinstall until someone can tell me that its problems are fixed. I will stay with PSPX9 until then.

I doubt that you don't have enough memory, but we have no way of knowing since you did not fill in your system information in your Profile. Please go HERE and complete that information. If you look under my avatar, you will see that information appears so we can have a quick look. That way you don't get asked about this each time you may request help.

I have a new computer with 1TB hard drive and 8 g of ram and it still takes a lot of my memory from my computer.

PSP X3 is a 32 bit application, so it can only use 2 GB of memory, no matter how much you have installed.

Yes, as yet (11 months and counting I think since I reported it and it was acknowledged) its still not been fixed. If you work with big images especially you will eventually hit 'out of memory' errors and have to restart the app.
