How can re-install DVD MF 6?

Post by NoePalacios »

I made a Mistake and I deleted some DVD MF6 files. I tried to uninstall it but the install wizard didn't allow me to do it. Later I tried to delete all files and I couldn't, then tried to re-install but again the install wizard didn't allow me.

How can I re-install my DVD MF 6?

Welcome to the forums,

I don't know how you would accidentally delete files needed to run the program, but once you do, you pretty well messed things up. Programs install files everywhere on a computer. Waaayyy back when it was MS Windows 3.0 it was no big deal, as a program was in a folder, everything it needed, so you simply could delete the folder and that took care of uninstalling, not today.

Corel's method, which you've used some of already..
000004256 - Manually uninstalling DVD Movie Factory 6 under Vista

Print

Please try this to fix crashing problems:

First uninstall DVD Movie Factory 6 by going to Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs;

Delete the following folders: C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6.0 ,
C:\Users\All Users\Appdata\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\6.0 ,
C:\Users\<<Username>>\Appdata\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\6.0 ,
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD;

If you can't find any of these folders, go to Organise | Folder and Search Options | View
Choose the option "Show all files and folders"

1. Go to Start | Run
2. Type msconfig and click on OK
3. Go to Services and click on "Hide all Microsoft Services" and then on "Disable all"
4. Go to Startup and click on "Disable all"
5. Click on OK and restart the computer
6. Install DVD Movie Factory 6/Plus and all updates
7. Go to Start | Run
8. Type msconfig and click on OK
9. Choose "Normal Startup" and click on OK
You might also try running a registry cleaning program, however I will urge extreme caution when using one, as it can render your system unuseable.

Dear Ron,
I have a similar problem with Movie Factory 6 Plus. I had it installed on my old laptop which ran Windows XP but unfortunately the computoer was destroyed and I have just bought a new one with windows 7 on it.
I have tried instaling movie factory on it but it just will not open the disc to instal. What can I do??
And for the record I am more than annoyed with Corel. I have tried to contact Corel via their website but they will not recognise or support my movie factory. Also their website gives a number to call in Australia, which states to call between 10am and 7pm Australian time, and when you ring it (20 times over the last month) it gives the same message. "Thanks for calling Corel, our business times are between 10 and 7 Australian time, please call again". It is like Corel has no interest in giving support once they have sold the product.
Anyway back to my problem, how do I load Movie Factory 6 plus onto my laptops windows 7 system??
Regards
Harry

Welcome to the forums Harry, :)

This sounds like your disc is damaged. Can you view the contents of the disc from Windows Explorer? If so try copying the disc to your hard drive, then run the setup from there. If you can't view the contents or copy the disc, then you do have a damaged, unusable disc.

Dear Ron,
The disc will not open at all. I have opened it on 3 other computers without difficulty, all of which run Windows XP.
I have tried on 2 computers that run Windows 7 and neither will open the disc.
So the problem is Movie Factory 6 plus compatability with Windows 7. The disc is not damaged!
How do I open and load Movie Factory 6 plus onto a Windows 7 computer?
As this seems to be a major problem and complaint I would have thought Corel would have a simple program to download to overcome the problem.
Also if I bought and upgraded to Movie Factory 7, it appears this is still a problem.

Well Ron:

Sh.. happens.

I did as you advised. Then I install the hot fix for DVDMF6, then install the DVDMF6 itself, and error windows poped up and it was imposible to install the SDKControl. Then I install the Patch #2 and then the bonus pack. Then I try to burn a DVD and at the process's end an error windows poped up it didn't burn the DVD. Do I have to do the delete thing again. I didn't touch the register, should I have?

If you want to perform a clean reinstallation of DVDMF 6 or 6 plus, then just follow the steps that Ron posted above and just reinstall using your disc or redownload it from your corel.com account.

You can also follow this steps to manually remove the program: http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... eFactory-6

If you happen to have a damaged disc or it's not working anymore, you can try and call corel customer support and see if they can STILL provide you with a replacement disc.

I am concerned about Ron's advice to "disable all" .
Let's assume MF6 opens, does that mean every time I want to use the program I have to disable windows programs?
Also what are the chances of loosing programs.
Surely, as this is a Corel compatability problem with W7, they would have come up with a simple download to fix the problem!!

That's not "Ron's advice". That's Corel's advice. I quoted from their Knowledgebase. My advise would be to not disable all services. I've never attempted to disable all services. I have disabled services that I knew were non-essential.

  1. You're operating system, Win7 Home Premium, apparently does not allow running programs in Compatibility Mode.
  2. It is "Vista Certified", or capable of running on Vista, so you would think it would run on Win7. Maybe not though...
  3. Have you tried completely removing, making sure you have all traces of DVD MF6 removed before you try to install? See the link posted by Abiel above.
  4. Disable your antivirus, and UAC (User Account Control) in Win7 prior to installing.
  5. Right-click on the program's install file or the Setup.exe file, select Run as Administrator.
  6. If the program will not install then I don't know why...
Try copying the entire CD to your HDD. Then running the Setup.exe file from there, NOT the Autorun. Try cleaning your CD and the CD/DVD drive using disc cleaners. I use one that I've had for years, called CD Cleaning Solution. It's basically Isopropyl Alcohol. It's in a spray bottle. When you clean a disc, using a soft clean cloth, like a lens cleaning cloth, you always wipe across the surface, from inside to the outside. Never wipe in a circle or around the disc. I also use a player/burner cleaning disc, that has little brushes on it, to wipe minute dust particles off the laser lens. Try finding one of these to see if it may help. Supposedly we are to clean them after every 10 hrs of use.

Now if you can not copy the CD to your system, then the CD is damaged and corrupt. There's nothing we can do about it here. FWIW, I just completed saving some very important files that I had backed up 8 yrs ago. I discovered that the CD is failing, when I tried to retrieve a file from it. It took me several hours to get the information off the CD. It would do anything from causing Windows Explorer to crash, to freeze my system. However I kept pushing and prodding until I managed to get what needed to be saved off.

Dear Ron,
Tried all the suggestions but nothing works.
The disc is perfect, clean and not damaged. Even made a copy.
The computer disc drive works perfectly.
The simple fact is that movie factory 6 plus will not work on windows 7 and corel has not come up with a solution.
Is that true?
Do you work for Corel?
Cheer,
Harry

Harry,

1. Do I work for Corel? No, I'm a dirt-construction worker, truck driver, equipment operator.
2. The last version was DVD MF7 Pro, or 7SE (if you count the trimmed down one that was offered with VS X3). I've not known Corel to release patches for older versions of their products.

And I -- who also does NOT work for Corel -- can say that MF 6+ will definitely work on a Win 7 computer. You will see the details of that computer in my Profile under my photo. I only installed MF 6+ the other day in relation to another query. Had no problems and I works fine.

Crikey Ron,
You must be keen. No payment from Corel and Corel is the banner and you do nearly all the support?
Something wrong there. You have lots of knowledge and along with others seem to do all the support for the numerous complaints about Corel and their lack of customer service and care for their customers. If you did get paid from Corel, I can understand why you are doing equipment construction because you'd get nothing from Corel!!
I mentioned in my first email that in Australia the phone number for support states to ring 02 8014 4927 (a Sydney number) you ring that number and the message states the business hours are 10am tom 7 pm Australian time. When you ring between those hours no one answers as it goes to a recorded message that states "our business hours are 10am to 7pm Australian time please ring again". I have tried for 3 months and no one answers!! I have tried their own site but they wont register their own product so you can talk to them.
I have gone to lots of forums and everyone has the same problem with Corel.......no support. The only support are people like you trying to help the public who have been conned by Corel into buying their products.
You talk about older patches, my MF6+ is only 2 years old, my old computer on which the program was instaled got destroyed, I have just bought a new computer (which has W7 instead of XP) to instal the program and surely they would do a patch for that.
I realy like MF6+ but I am not inclined to buy another one.
