Ron--youre so smart. You saw Raiders of the Lost Ark. At the end there is circular cloud around the top of the mountain where they are going to open the ark, ominous cloud--remember it swireled? How could I make that? I want it to glow with the light inside the ring, darker on the outside of course.

These are artisitic questions, but practical imagery and math to you.

One more if I might. Lets say I wanted to make lines from point a to point b. I want to stretch them and bend them on the way and give them perspective like they are coming closer from a side rear angle. Lines, miasma. smoke, some on menacing energy field approaches. Ideas for creating that. Anything I import is going to be JPG and I think you said that is not good. Correct?

Hi again I am stuck maybe with the same issue. I have not worked on my image for three weeks. I open my PSP. it says...

WORKING F(then there is a little mark after that) @ 43% (selection)

It is before me now on the screen, but I do not have the pallette boxes open at the side with my various layers to work with. Under palettes the proper things are check marked. I am not doing something. Over looking. Why wont they pop up?

Under layers it is not white where I would choose another vector layer or another raster layer.
Under effect I cannot put a check mark next to any of the effects
Under pallettes I do have things checked but when I F8 or F7 or click on them nothing happens.
I cannot modify the image with clone brush etc...
It is something silly. Help.

Another question. I want a three dimensional font, so it looks like it is coming up off the page, one with shadows behind it and also one that will look larger at the top than at the bottom like it is tilting towards you.... but there doesnt seem to be one availiable. . What can I do?

If you saved it as a jpeg, you flattened your layers and there's no going back.

it is a psp image.
When you open an image from the thumbnail list across the bottom of the page I get my large image I want to work on. I have Get photos adjust retouch collage down the left side of the page. Inside that I have a vertical tool bar with oan pointerdropper and so on, but no side boxes on the right to work on the project. No gradient box, no layers nothing like that. Help me open them. It is something stupid on my part.

Go to View -> Palettes and put a check next to the palettes you want (Materials, Layers, etc.).

If that is not working for you, try resetting your workspace. You can do this by closing PSP and then hold down the shift key and clicking on the PSP icon on your desktop. For some reason "resetting the workspace" seems to be Corel's magic pill for fixing all sorts of things.

When you open the program and select an image you want to work on a psp image, you need the boxes, materials, layers and so on to the right of the image to actually work. I cant get mine to open. I cant say why. Please some one Show me how to open the work boxes to the right of the image. so I can work on the layers individually, make new rasters and so on make gradients and so on. I want the layer thumbnail that has a pic of what is on that layer displayed. I cannot get these to open. I tried the shift/icon thing as suggested and also looked at the check marks. I am missing it. Had it two weeks ago and now cant do what I was doing then.

Here is exactly what my screen looks like.

I have an image up Working F@ 45% (raster 1)
To the side of this is my tool bar going down the page. Pan Pick dropper and so on
Even further to the left is learning center
Above these and the image going across the top of the screen from left to right is

file edit view image adjust effects layers objects selections windows help

Under this are icons again traveling left to right a page, folder, scanner save saveas printer left right

But I have no materials, no layers nothing off the right side of the picture that I usually work from. Why cant I get that part to work? It is so simple. If I only knew what to do..

Okay, after you reset your workspace, did you once again go into View -> Palettes and select the Materials, Layers and any other palette you want?

See if you can grab the right side of the screen with the cursor and drag left. Sometimes they hide.

yes Kathy i did everything you said. And no the layers and material and gradient and foreground and background work areas are not hiding under the image. It is so simple. When you yourselves turn on PSP you don't have an image. You have to pull one up. Okay then, materials and layers and all that should just pop up to THE RIGHT OF THE IMAGE IF IT DOESNT FOR YOU then please tell me how you make it pop up so you can work. The last time it was stupid little something and it just popped open and then poof there it was. I told you what my screen looked like--steer me from where I am.

I need poof that Im not insane.

Corel tech support can actually be given access to your computer so that they can show you what's going on. But they cost money.

Are you sure you reset the workspace? I just want to make sure. THe icon has to be on your desktop, not in the start menu. And when you click on it it has to be a double click. Essentially open PSP while holding SHift.

If you did it properly you'll get this dialog box:

If that's what you did and they aren't showing up then keep reading.

Okay I can only think of three possible ways to get those palettes to show up if they aren't showing up on their own.

1) Sometimes the palettes don't show up when the Learning Center is open. Try closing the learning center.

2) If that doesn't work try setting some of the general program preferences.

Go to your file menu and select File->Preferences->General Program Preferences

Select "Palettes" from the dialog and you'll see at the bottom three options for displaying palettes. Make sure it says "Always" and not "Never" or "With Learning Center." You want them to always show automatically.

3) Force PSP to open all palettes and toolbars at once.

Go to FIle->Preferences->Reset Preferences.

In the dialog that pops up at the bottom, the last check box, it says "Make all toolbars/palettes visible on screen." Check that and hit OK.

Again thank you! I am supposed to have KPT on this disk.... is that a further install option? or is it there and again I just cant see it? I want to make black holes and lightning. According to You tube videos KPT will allow me to do that. Can I use my PSP image and go right into that program?
