Why can't I access fade in/fade out in 'clips' menu? -Ulead8

Post by IronMike778 »

I can't seem to access fade in/fade out. It's there in the 'clips' tab but it's whited out. Any idea why? Also, where's fade to white? I can use fade to black in the f/x section, but I want to fade to white also. Is it possible?

FYI........I'm using the 30-day free trial version if that matters.

In order to access options under the 'Clip' menu (top right corner) - you must make sure that the word 'CLIP' is highlighted under the preview window - either by clicking on the word or by clicking on the clip you want the effect on in the timeline/storyboard.

Note however that the 'Fade in' and 'Fade out' referred to there relate to the Audio part of the clip not the video.

In order to fade to white you would put a plain white block in the timeline immeadiately after your video and use the crossfade transition at the join - however you may find that the trial version does not include the crossfade in which case you can get one from :-

Thanks for your quick response.

I did highlight the clip I wanted to fade in/out but I did NOT realize fade in/fade out was for audio only. My bad.

Thanks for that link......

Now for a VERY ignorant question. What is the deal with plug-ins? What are they giving you that the program itself does not.

Depends of course on whose plug-ins - there are the official Ulead ones which you can read about here : -

then there are other third party plug in like for instance 'Moving Parts' which you can read about here :-
