Saving jpg and psp with same name side by side

Post by sconcor »

Hello All,
Since switching to PSP X-3 Ultimate, which I like a lot BTW, I have the following problem.

Background: I store in various folders pictures from my camera or the net as a .jpg or .bmb file, under a dedicated name, for instance a picture of a cruise ship stored as "Cruiseship Queen Victoria". In many cases I need a selection of such a picture which I then paste as a new layer, say for instance the funnel of that ship. Then I tick the little eye of the original picture, which now has become background, in the Layer Palette, leaving only the selection visible, so that you only see the funnel, (I choose normally a transparant background). Then I press "Save as" making sure the file pormat is .PSP and in all previous Paint Shop Pro's I get a folder which shows a thumbnail of the full original picture of the cruise ship and directly next to it a thumbnail of the picture of its funnel. They both have the name "Cruiseship Queen Victoria". In that way I can immediately see in my folders which maritime pictures had their funnel selected and which not. Very handy (in my view).

Problem: In PSP X-3 the files in the format .PSP are stored all right, but all together at the end of the folder, instead placed next to the same-named .jpg file. All .jpg pictures are also grouped together. They are no longer stored next to each other. So If I need to check if the funnel was selected and pasted as a new layer, I need to scroll all the way down, and check under that name.
Is it possible in PSP X-3 to store .jpg and .psp next to each other? Has anybody experience in this matter? Opening PSP with Shift to go the default set-up has not worked and neither did uninstalling with the Corel MSICleanup and installing again.

Thanks for any advice.

Are you talking about in the Organizer or in the Open Dialog? I could be wrong but I don't believe this is a PSP X3 problem. This is a Windows "Sort by" problem.

Just right-click on the background of the list and select "Sort by" -> "Name" and it should arrange everything like you like.

If it's the organizer just tell it to sort by filename.

Thanks for your advice, Levifiction, you're right.
I never realized, that you could go into properties in the list itself, and sure enough, there is the option sort by name. Now everything is as I want it!
Great forum, this.
Best regards.
